The Chandra was preordering for $60 non-foil. I remember, because I pulled it on pre-release day. It immediately fell to around $20, but I had managed to trade it for a foil wasteland from eternal masters before it happened.

Ah, the good Lady C. Those were the times. I still like them. Decent card quality, not half the pack filled with non-standard frame cards, but all good stuff. Thanks to all the reprints prices crashed on almost all of them, just a handful are currently $10 or more. Btw - we got about 200 boxes on offer on the European "version" of TCGplayer, i.e. cardmarket, plus eBay and all that.

The second prerelease I had during that part of my life when I started to attend events at LGS was with that set. I found Torrential Gearhulk foil as promo card. For sure it was the block that got stuck in my memories of that time above all else. Lovely times. Set is artifact-focused (which is a good thing long term), it has enemy fastlands (1st of 69 iterations), vehicles, energy mechanic that after years is FINALLY being supported (I guess people at wotc up until now were having recurring nightmare about attune w/ aether, marvel, cub and that beautiful bristling hydra you have unpacked... lol). And then, the Masterpieces, the lottery cards. Shiny sweet descent into madness! Those were the times when wotc was setting things up to shape the new product as we see it nowadays. I hate to say it and I hate to acknowledge it, but to me that's the truth. One that despises the nowadays' countless card variants simply cannot enjoy those 2-set blocks during those years. Look at the art even, main subject is awesome yes but focus on the backgrounds: shallow, bland, with cgi/image manipulation abuse creeping in

P.S. Despite all that, I'm into that block. Because I act irrationally based on the memories of the good times I had. Aside lottery cards being weaker, I wonder why Aether Revolt is performing worse. Here in Europe market, Kaladesh took several hits. From 300+ euros per box in 2020/22 to 250 in 2023 and now 215-220 (shipping costs excluded). Aether Revolt went from 170-ish to 135-140 in that same period. Many older sets but not-that-old are going down here. My humble take is that powersellers want to get new liquidity to be put into new stuff. Or simply, Timmies were right all along, it's all a bubble and whatever :)

My two cents. Card print quality from Europe is kilometers (sorry, miles) higher than in the US. The printing in Belgium is done by Carta Mundi, which is head and shoulders above the competition.
