My all time favorite song of kalapana, thank you for sharing the wonderful memories of 70's best times of my life. God bless you all aloha.

I could listen to this song all day long! Brings back Great memories. This movie was made by an old friend of mine, Gary Capo and was released in 1978. A classic guy himself and a hell of a lot of fun and a great cinematographer. Buttons and Mark Lydell were the nicest, most spontaneous and funniest Hawaiians I ever knew. Not having Buttons on this planet now makes it a less vibrant and friendly world. Rest in peace brudda. You were amazing! Mark Is still going strong and puts out thousands of good shaped boards. Larry Bertelmann and Dane Kealoha's surfing was awesome throughout the 70s and 80s. Shaun has gone on to become a much in demand motivational speaker and author. I was fortunate enough to contribute some footage to Many Classic Moments and proud to do so. These guys were Kings. Steve Soderberg

Reminds me of Kalapana's reunion concert at Waikiki Shell in the early 80's...sitting on the lawn with a gal I was in love with. Awesome an wonderful memories.

I was there, too. My wife surprised me with tickets for Christmas. Never forget it. Girst daw them out in the quad at San Diego State Univ. Packed up my stuff and moved to Hawaii. 20+ years shaping boards on the North Shore. What a dream come true . 😎 I owe a lot of it to the music of Kalapana and others that madr me know I was where I belonged.

I had so much fun surfing Queen's with Buttons, Mark, Dane, Larry, and da boys back in 73. No close outs, offshore, warm, and tubing sections.
Nothing can compare of watching these movies back in the day on the big screen stoned....... nothing

Aloha, Malani Bilyeu (1949-2018), co-founder and lead guitarist / singer of the contemporary Hawaiian band Kalapana, who with Cecilio & Kapono dominated the local music scene in the 1970s and were a staple of our youth. Rest in peace, brother.

Pokersurfer nailed it. That particular piece of the movie . . . the kind of thing you sing to yourself after 40 or 50 years of classic moments growing old surfing in Hawai'i. I wonder how young surfers would feel about the song and images in the clip these days. Hope there are many classic moments for everyone like these . . . .
Beautiful song over some totally stoked footage. I used to play this song a lot on my surf music show "Surfwave" on KXLU-FM in Los Angeles. I don't have it within reach, but I seem to remember the soundtrack LP to "Many Classic Moments" had a most stunning shot of the back of a tanned island woman laying on her side. Wonderful memories aurally & visually on this one. Thanks for sharing!

First, so sorry to hear and see the loss of a town to lava flow, and "Drainpipes" (?) surf spot. I met 2 guys from Kalapana while staying in Tavarua, Fiji in 1988. It's all they talked about. Thanks for sharing - I always wondered what it looked like. One guy would always take off :-)
