Kale Chane Ka Khatta Recipe | Himachali Dish

If you explore the food culture of Himachal Pradesh, you will find every dish offering a unique flavour. One such dish is 'khatta'. It is a gravy-based dish that is prepared with kala chana, spices and imli. Also called chane ka khatta, it makes a popular dish in a Himachali household and is also prepared in 'Dham' - a popular traditional feast in the region, prepared on special occasions.
This delicious Kale Chane Ka Khatta is created by Chef Santosh at Courtyard By Marriott Aravali Resort.
Recipe
Ingredients:
20 ml Oil
30 ml Ghee
40 gm Onion
20 gm Garlic
10 gm Ginger
60 gm Kala Chana
10 gm Cumin Seeds
30 gm Green Chilli
60 gm Tomato Puree
2 tbsp Turmeric Powder
2 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
1 tbsp Coriander Powder
20 ml Imli Water
20 gm Garam Masala
20 gm Coriander Leaves
Method:
1. Heat oil in a pan and add the spices.
2. Add the boiled kala chana and imli water and let it simmer for a while.
3. Add salt, garam masala and water.
4. Cook for few minutes.
5. Garnish with coriander leaves.
