All good advice. I’ve modded my Jeep JK a lot, but 2 very impactful changes have been 1) putting in the mopar J8 master brake cylinder/ booster and 2) the PSC big bore steering box/cooler/ pump. I notice these every time I drive the Jeep. Big tires really degrade the stock braking and steering (among other things).
@4XTRAIL2 жыл бұрын
Both of those are things I need to do! You’re the second person to mention the Mopar J8 booster. Thanks B Y always appreciate your comments and feedback 🤙🏼

I first put on power stop z36 rotors and pads and noticed some improvement (same size as oem). I also put on high quality braided steel lines. Def better, but still a spongy brake pedal and degraded stop distance versus stock. 2.5 lift with heavy Nitto ridge grapplers 35”. Installed the J8 and brake pedal sponge gone. Stopping distances less. The Jeep is safer. I think I paid $340 for the J8. Was back ordered a long time during the pandemic. Now, I no longer have a big brake kit on my to do list.

Led headlights and tail lights with integrated anti rapid flash] Mud tires with 17 in stock rims (I also have my stock sahara 18 inch rim set with at tires) bath can be found fir cheap. Stickers. Your preference. Cheap Bluetooth 5v 16 ft led strip light stuck to top hidden by roll bars. Colored paint markers for highlights on tires. (‘Warning’ in red, ‘safety’ in yellow, tire type in white. Getting my tipm repaired at maks tipm. And then getting an extra one with a custom colored cover. The little things that count sometimes. I only used a ship when I needed to balance and mount tires. I should buy those tools. When I redid my brakes a second time, there was axle grease all over form a leaky rear driver side seal. I bought an new axle with bearing pressed already and new brake assembly for super cheap and had no problems putting it in. It was way cheaper and easier than any other method. Put a new iron diff cover painted with great hammered finish with blue accent. It atachés the cover of my tipm o got from maks tipm repair.

How does that LSD work with the traction control on 2012+ auto transmission JK’s? I was told we can only use a selectable locker or a posi otherwise it messes with the traction control when in 2wd.

If you’re primarily on-road then you wouldn’t need the rubicon. I would say a newer (2019 +) JL sport with 35 inch all terrain tires would give you a good look while still riding well on road.

Good idea on trimming the fender flares. Been saving up for $600 Nemesis Crawler Flares and now I may give this a shot. Also good advice on the Helical Diff, I didn't even know that was an option to lockers. Also the one mod on my Jeep that has been the best purchase so far is the Badlands Apex 12K winch. I do offroad recoveries here in Vegas and this winch has never let me down. I have probably pulled out over 100 people last summer at Lake Meade and not one fail. I bought it for $450 vs the $1500 for the Warn.

I’ve been really looking at the idea of adding the nitro gear lsd on my JL, don’t wheel too often(wish i did more) but the cost for adding an eaton is already high per axle plus labor puts me around the mid $4k range including regear for both axles. Sorta like an install and forget it kinda thing.
@4XTRAIL2 жыл бұрын
Been really happy with mine! I think the helical diff in the rear and a locker in the front would be ideal for the harder stuff. So far the helical alone has been enough for my use.

@@4XTRAIL I think for me, being realistic an LSD is enough. I don’t rock crawl, but am planning a trip to colorado etc but even then I think the LSD will be more than enough. Hello. I have a jku without lock, and am interested in knowing a bit more about helical diff? can't find anyone here in Norway who sells. the jeep is used for daily driving and pulls a caravan on holiday, can I use a diff for that?
@4XTRAIL Жыл бұрын
Hello! For sure, a helical diff should be fine for towing and daily driving because it acts just like a normal diff until you start spinning a tire, then it turns into a posi. Mine is made by Nitro Gear and Axle. Have you tried northridge4x4.com? I’m not sure if they ship international but worth a try. My wife and I would love to travel to your country someday - looks so beautiful!
@tdludvig Жыл бұрын
thank you for taking the time to reply. 😃 I'll check if they send.👍 yes, I think you should do that, but most of the roads that are low and drive on are ok with the original 4x4, strict rules for driving in the countryside, but some roads can be fine with a little higher 4x4. you have probably seen (expedition overland nordic) they got a few experiences of what norway has and offers. rent a diesel car if you are making the trip, as it is much cheaper 🙈 take care. ps just finished Shaun's videos and started on yours and the ones he has advertised. keep up the good work you do, it's fun to see everything you show😃

hey im trying to do upgrades on my 2009 jk, i have 35s on it and needs to be regeared(idk what to regear it to) where should i take it to get regeared? i also have a 2.5" lift, do you reccomend a 4" for more clearance?
@4XTRAIL Жыл бұрын
Hey, a 2.5” lift should be good for 35s. I ran that combo for a while and liked it. Im assuming you have an auto transmission? As for a regear - is yours a rubicon? If so you may not need to regear. If you do decide to regear I would suggest 4:88s. You can search for a local driveline / differential shop that has good ratings. I would start there!

Don't like the stock Rubi rock rails. All those scratches on your doors are because not enough outboard cover. Sticks and rocks hit your doors when you run over them. 4 out of 5 is still pretty good for early mods though. Keep up the changes, and remember what JEEP stands for. "Just Empty Every Pocket!"
