I've got a long way to go, just starting to get away from the foamie, started in June, and thanks to you I've caught a good amount of waves, still come across quite a few that are too big and slam me, thanks for all you do.

Just got the intermediate surfers roadmap course! Stoked to go through it! We get inconsistent, often stormy beach break waves up where I am so it’s hard to get the repetition needed to progress. Hoping the visualizing in this course will help things moving forward!

Nathan, Many tks for the great video!!! When I look at sec 7.52, it looks like the front foot is off center and much closer to the inside rail. Is my understanding correct? That board looks short to me and high volume...is it because this board is fatty and you need to put some additional weight on the inside rail? ....or did i totally miss it? Tks in advance for your comments!

Great vid man!! Yew Just a question about the top turn. At 2:39/2:40 you are beginning to turn head/shoulders/torso. My question is: is the weight on the front foot? And do you need to transfer weight onto the heels or no? Cheers kale

for me who mainly surfs beach breaks i struggle to have enough time after the pop up to remember to line up everything. My instinct is to pump right away after pop up because i know the way will close out. When i manage to pass the section then is alsmost to late for me to go for a bottom turn comeback up for round house.. feels like I just dont have enough time. Anyone struggling with this issue? Any tips?

Hey kale, love the video! I’m having a struggle with my future surfing “career”. I’m on a wavestorm right now, but it’s getting difficult to turn and go down the line. I’ve tried my dads longboard and I feel that it is too much Baird for me, but shortboards aren’t easy to ride and progress fastly on. Would you suggest trying a mid length board? If possible, do you think you can make a detailed video about fish, short, long, and mid length boards please? Thank you!!

Road map to stale turns 😂 no, it's not a about waving your arms around and the rotation is created by the board, not body or the arms. Set your rail and hold on. It's really about balance of the feet, and not the body so much at all. A good surfer can make up for body position by relaxing and putting weight in the toe or heel. Wave your arms around all you want, but your turns will still be stale without relaxing and putting energy through the feet or shifting the feet. Feet first and forget about the upper body.

@@KalesBroccoli I don't have a filmer and can't film myself surfing at distance, as well as I'm not consistent enough myself to show you what I'm talking about in the surf. That's the dialysis part of the dude thing. When I get a chance and it's dry enough here I will try to make a vid to explain what I'm talking about on a skateboard. One way to think about it is that you don't have to see where you are going in order to go there. It's about leaning off the board on one side or the other in order to make that weight shift onto the rail. More rail in the water is what makes the board turn. Also like in snowboarding it's really about what's happening with the toe and heel weight more than the upper body. I know everyone tries to emulate Kelly's "perfect" cutbacks, but there are many ways to make the board turn and the arms are not what turns the board.
