Kali Linux Install - Hyper-V Manager

How to install Kali Linux on a virtual machine using Microsoft Hyper-V Manager on your Windows computer.
Viewers on Windows 10 Pro, Education or Enterprise edition can follow along with out any additional software procurement.
Viewer on Windows 10 Home Edition may prefer to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro in order to install Microsoft Hyper-V or switch to a different hypervisor platform (VMware, Virtual Box) to follow along.

Wow so smart I was using openbox but I installed Hyper-v on my Windows 11 Home version and wanted to try it out. Couldn't figure out what was wrong until I watched this video and realized secure boot was checked in security settings.

You are to much amazing I wasted 3 to 4 day solving login problem before watching you video then I read comment about then I know that generation 1 was not supported by Kali. If you see many videos they do by generation 1 how to run they know but your are just life saving. And you are really informative also you should make more video. Hi Scott, during the installation phase was Generation 2 selected (2:09).

@@stella-Razor tried both, uninstalled HYPERV and used virtualbox. Time is money and I had no more time to waste on HYPERV. I moved on.

Are you stuck at that loading screen approximately 10:33 into the tutorial. I would recommend: 1, ensuring Generation 2 is selected, 2. that you have enough storage and resources on your computer for the VM to be created and ensure the same kali package was selected (Bare-metal).

After installation, GUI is not loading, only black screen is coming. Uninstalled xfce/lightdm in rescue mode, it is starting in text mode. I tried in many ways but unable to work GUI. Can you help me

In the VM settings (right click VM >> select settings) on the Firmware page, is the DVD Drive (Kali ISO image) appearing at the top of the boot order? Seen in video at 7:15. If the black screen appearing has some text indicating it is attempting to boot, pressing keys (enter, space bar or selecting the alt-ctr-delete button) can help. The alt-ctr-delete button is located next the "Start" button on the VM's tool bar. Top left of VM window. The icon looks like three grey squares.

@@stella-Razor Yes. DVD Drive appearing. It is booting. After booting, it is not showing login screen, simply cursor is blinking

@@stella-Razor After 11:444. At 11:47 the login screen is not showing. I booted in rescue mode and uninstalled xfce/lightdm.. After that login is coming in text mode. If i try to install, lightdm, gnome, kde, xfce, each time and reboot, no login display again. I installed kali 4 times even installed Win10 again. Still getting the same thing

when you choose bare metal option is that going straight to the physical computer...??, if i ser linux and then kali does it work...????
