It been 2 years since I found your channel. I taken other martial arts and the last one was JKD.

I've been watching videos regularly about 7 months, since I started training kali locally here in Alabama. Love your stuff!

For me, its been about 2 months. I stared training in escrima back in 2003, but i had to leave the school. I moved but started training in TKD (in training for my 3rd dan now) and well as other systems. For the past 10 years ive been training in FMA on and off because without an instructor, i really didn't know where to restart my training. A few months ago i came across your channel and well as mark anastcios and decided to make a commitment to kali center (for now. Maybe Marks school later). There are a lot of concepts i missed while training in escrima years ago. So i decided to just start from the beginning. So its back to the basics for me. Thanks for all the information u have provided so far, it helps more than you know. Best of luck to you.

Hi Paul, I believe, I've been smashing the thumb now for about 4yrs. It's the best makes my walking stick a deadly weapon when I'm out, especially when combined with my previous training which is close to what you teach in your Kicks, Blows, Throes and joint breaks. I don't bother with holds or wrist locks, I want to do as much damage as fast as I can and then dissappear, I was taught locks and hold with my first martial art Judo, and in an attack in a UK pub I did as i'd been shown for years, threw the guy hung onto the wrist and moved it into a wrist lock, trouble was I didn't see the Knife or cut throat razor he had and he severved my thumb, never again, strike and damage for me from now on and this serves me well now I'm over 65 and dealing with sevre injuries, leaving thugs to see me as an easy target, that where what you've taught me comes in really handy, Thanks very much. I like traing with most Staff's, hanbo's and double sticks, my walking stick out of necessity, and often combine it with a knife, but that's sucicide here from a leagal point of view. My absolute favourite training is with live edged twin Bolo's, with a small back edge about 4inches razor sharpe, and deadly points, lets you know if you're striking wrong quickly, loving it thanks again. I've visited your place for around 3 years, now. I've bought far too many sticks and fully intend to go on doing that! As for closed space practise...I've shortened a few pairs of sticks, because my worldly possessions organised a signature petition, to get the Government to ban me from ever picking up sticks, again. It passed, too - but I'm a big, brave boy, and I've ignored that and I'm still training with my sticks! How could anybody give this up, is my most frequently asked question! I can't imagine normal daily life without stick training - I call that success!

Pretty sure I've been watching since about 2017. I saw a fellow using a stick that was about a foot long the other day. Reminded me a bit of the Japanese tanbo or Korean dan bong. I don't think there's a weapon the Filipinos haven't adapted to their style of fighting. What I enjoy about Kali is it's variety, flexibility, and adaptability. I see many influences from all over Asia in Kali. But they seem to be more fluid and aggresive the way the Filipinos implement them. I realize why Kali and JKD work well together. Both arts absorb what is useful, then utilize those skills very efficiently.

Thank you. I've been watching you since the last three months. My stick is 35 inches. Does the mechanics change for my a bit longer stick?
@kalicenter2 жыл бұрын
The mechanics should not change. Just make sure you’re not spending too much energy holding onto the stick due to weight and balance.
