B Major has five sharps in the key signature and the sharps are written on the staff in its proper order : F C G D A When this pitch starts at the note B. That means the all of the notes listed above should be retuned to the NEXT highest half step. For a kalimba to sound good it is to be retuned as follows,.C♯, D♯ F♯, G♯, A♯. 🤩 Returning more that a half step , ex. C natural to B sharp will sound very different conpared to C natural to C sharp, C natural retuned to B flat will not sound the same as C♮ to C♯. I use G string tuning fork. I will be happy to help anyone who wants precise tuning technique for playing with musicians.🤗🧁🍫🍬 For solo beginners playing a little off key ,sort of spoils the your ear training.. I wish that The Kc kalimba had played the B scale in her video. Maybe next time☺️

Love your videos and your different Content than Others provide, Great job, I am thinking I may tune a 21 key in F to a B key with higher tunings I am Not sure what the higher keys would be, or is it would sound good or not, have you tuned any 21 key Kalimbas like this?

@@LCkalimba i just retuned a C tuned Kalimba from factory C tune, To a Much Improved Sounding B tune, Wow it really Gave that instrument a Much better sound, While i didnt care about that instrument too much as a C tune, as it had the 4 highest tines were dead, But Now they are Alive and have very good tone. Frank Castillo a lot of the Kalimba Tabs are in C scale. However, you can play C major songs by following the numbered notation on the B scale kalimba, the only difference is that the tone would be lower than C major. I hope this is helpful. 😊

Ngoc Thao You should be able to play C major song on your A key kalimba by using the numbered notation, except the tone will sound lower than C major kalimba. Give it a try and let me know if that work for you. 😆

I was wondering since I’m new to Kalimba, if there’s a way to tune back the Kalimba like when it originally came tuned. I accidentally feel like I messed up the tune of my Kalimba and I’m a bit worried if it won’t be tuned the way it was ;-;

What key was your kalimba tuned to? You can always tune it back depends on what key you want to tune the kalimba to.

Tiny Bandaid The notes for C major is included in this video starting at 0:53. You would need to use a tuning app to help you with this. For iPhone, you can try insTuner (I use this) or Smart Kalimba app. For android phone, you can try gStrings, DaTuner or Smart Kalimba app. You would pluck the tine to check what note they are using a tuning app. If the note is too high, then you would hit it down from the top of the tine till you get to the note you want. If it’s too low, then you hit the tine from the bottom of tine up. C major kalimba starts with C4 (middle tine). I hope this clarifies your question. Let me know if have any questions.

So, I bought a b major gecko flat board kalimba accidentally, which is annoying because I can't find any music for it. I tried to tune it to a d major, but the tine won't move, and then I try another one and it moves and entire note down. I now have a very messed up kalimba that will not tune - can anyone help?

If your Kalimba is in B major, you can play music using the number notations to play the songs just like C major Kalimba.

@@LCkalimba yes but haven't found many tutorials for that, and no tab and I was hoping to play some of my simple violin music so I tried to tune it to D major - but right now it's just completely out of tune and I can't get it back in tune

@@yonit hmm… for example, if the song is in C major, but the music Tabs is in numbered notation (C=1, D=2, E=3 etc). Like 1131, in C major Kalimba, you would play CCEC. You can play the same music in B major, the different is (B=1, C=2, D=3 etc). You would play BBDB in this case. Not sure if that make sense. Why are you not able to retune the Kalimba back to original scales?

@@LCkalimba when I try tapping on a tine to lower the note, and nothing happens - only when I hit it really quite hard does the sound change, and by then I've accidentally hit the others out of tune

@@yonit Tuning can take a lot of time to do when you want to change to different major. You would have to be patient to do it. It took me up to 45 minutes to retune before as I had to keep making adjustments. When you hit the tine, maybe try to use one hand hold on to it while the other hand hit the tine to retune it.

Then it’s one note higher, you want to hit the tine downward till you get to D2.

Hi, I’m trying to learn Isabella’s Lullaby from The Promise Neverland and it’s supposed to be tuned to “Bb minor”. Would you know how to do that? 😅

Seems like B flat minor would consist of 5 flat notes, which would be Bb, Db, Eb, Gb, and Ab. That means you would tune your Kalimba to those notes. Is your Kalimba C major?

You could also transpose the song to C major, so you would need to retune your Kalimba. There are also Kalimba Tabs for this song on KZbin in C major I think.

Did you try to keep hitting the tine up? If it sounds like G5, that means you would still hitting the note up till you get to A5.

The keys of B and E would be flat notes on G minor. You would tune the keys of B and E to Bb (flat) and Eb, which would be B4 -> B4b, E4 -> E4b, B5 -> B5b, and E5 -> E5b. I hope this answers your question.
