It apprars that the orriya people are in thirst to glorify Kalinga might which is hallow. Everything should be based on historical documents. Just to glorify Kalinga, one should not shy to accept the factual position. There is literature in tamil written in 12 th century by poet jayamkondar it s name is Kalingattuparani, a Tamil poem and a war song by Jayamkondar, it describes about celebrating the victory of Kulottunga Chola I over the Kalinga king, Anantavarman Chodaganga in the Chola-Kalinga war.

To give a little bit of context . Rajendra's expedition to Ganga was devastating for Kalinga , at the time ruled by the Somavamshi dynasty . The Somavamshi king Indraratha , was killed and a civil war ensued between the two branches of the royal family . Eventually after two generations chola control weakened and Yayati 'Chandihara' the Somavamshi king broke free of chola control . This dynasty was replaced by the eastern Gangas or Chodagangas , who had marital ties with the Cholas , particularly Kulothunga Chola . And Anantavarman Chodagangadeva , the maternal grandson or nephew , of Kulothunga , expanded his empire from Vengi to southern bengal , - quite literally from Ganga to Godavari .

Ilamset Chennu(Father of Karikaala Chola) reached Himalayas with his forces won over the Tibet state, it seems..... Some 2K years back ..... That time Kalinga Kingdom had good terms with Chola's.,. Chola's travelled through sea route from TN to Odissa who were given heartwarming welcome by the Odissa rulers..... Then their Army went to Himalayas by the roadways....... After this Chera's(Emperor Senguttuvan) too reached Himalayas and fought wars there .... One Chola Pass is still in Sikkim or around this area....... Though Sanskrit inscriptions tell the story of Ganga Warfare with King Mahibalan, the Thamilhh inscriptions don't give that much importance as Chalukya's had really participated in that war........ But there was Chola's support & assistance which was given to his nephew & it's Army......

Rajendra Chola supported his nephew(Kundavai's son) who was a Chalukya king in the 11th Century..... His rival's were supported by the Kalinga's...... So Rajendra came till his Sister's palace to support his nephew. Kalinga king karavela invaded Tamilland, and after that, only Gajapati invaded during time of vijayanagar kingdom. Chodaganga of E.ganga came by marriage between them and chola, The great Rajendhra cholas 3 grand daughters where married to 3 dynasties 1. W. Chalukya who was defeated and for peace marriage alliance. 2. E.chalukya kulothungga due to his mother and grandmother are from chola family he to married and later became chola king. 3. Geo political alliance. Lakshmana Karna of kalachuri (chattisgarh area) was conquering Bengal gagadvalas of UP paramaras of MP, as a safety measures chola supported gangas of Odisha via marriage alliance and make them a buffer state between two, even chola maintained a alliance with gagadvalas you can find inscription of gagadvalas in chola capital gangai konda cholapuram. At last we would like to thank odians, as starting stage Kalinga or kelinga was name for them across seas Asia but after 13 th century after a great chola conquest before that time makes a change in naming and it starts to mean Tamil's as keling. ❤

The contemporary history says the sea route to India was discovered by the Portuguese sailor Vasco de Gamma in 1498. But see how much it is flawed. The Konark sun temple has the famous relief which shows the local sailors offering a Giraffe as a novel gift to the king. Konark sun temple was built from 1238-1250 AD. If there was no sea route how can be a Giraffe brought from Africa to Odisha or at best India. It was the Kalingans who knew the sea route from India to outside world. The history needs to be rewritten.

A Ganesh Idol of Kanchi King which was the kuldevta of Kanchi King had been brought to Jagannath temple which is well known as Kanchi Ganesh or Tantra Ganesh which can still be observed in Puri.

Kalinga kings were ruthless against muslim invaders up to 1559 AD. They destroyed bahamani kingdom who destroyed vijayanagar empire. No Muslim invaders could enter odisha upto 1560. Thereafter European started arriving in India and Muslims started to decline. This is the reason why odisha has a low Muslim population. Muslims invaded odisha only during Aurangzeb's time thereafter Muslim rules largely ends in India.

There are many temples in Southern India which are made by Utkaliya Kings I.e. Gajapatis. Gajapati Kapilendradeva built A great temple in Seemanchalam n Srikakulam. There are many evidences.

This is a well written history and even The story is found on the walls of Natamandap of ShreeJagannath temple.
