I often wish I could live like this, but I am disabled and have chronic illnesses that require easy access to regular medical care. I feel like this is something off-grid and rural-living folks don't address as often as they should. Still, I am grateful for channels like yours and Jonna's where I can escape into another world for a little while.

Such a relaxing video Kalle. 🫐🌲☀️🙌🏽 Yes! I’m actually on my way to move from Skåne to Norrland now, as my soul all of a sudden is craving nature after living about 15 years in big cities like London, Paris, Buenos Aires and Stockholm. We Swedes are so blessed and privileged for having so much spectacular nature in our country. And it’s also quiet and clean here. 🇸🇪❣️ I’m glad for you that you followed your dreams, now living your dream, and inspire others to do the same. ✨✨✨

It somehow ushered me into a place of peace, after a rough week. Thank you for being transparent with us about your struggles, and joys too! Like chopping wood and playing with your dog. It helps me feel less alone, and I think others may feel the same way. I know this channel has to be so much work, but thank you for not giving up! You are helping many people to have hope and peace. I'm off-grid here in Finland. Not in a simple cabin like yours, but a log house with all the things one expects from a modern house - just not connected to the grid. I provide my own power (electricity, heat, fuel), water and waste water processing. Big or small, there is always something to do and things are never finished. Quite some people wouldn't be able to do this because they need a full time job, kids need to be close to school which means living closer to or in the city for friends, activities, etc. The countryside is great, but very few families out there and kids miss out on opportunities. Then there is the financial risk to take a step like this: the risk if things don't work out holds people back - and I understand that perfectly. This life of ours isn't for everyone, and in a way, I'm glad for that: can you imagine what would happen to our nature if everyone decided to go build cabins to live in all over? The summer cottage is usually enough for most people to get a taste of this.

@@AGooseInSweden I get used oil for free from the deep fryer of a local restaurant. I only make a small batch since I need very little, a few hundred liters at most. The only costs I have to make it are the catalyst (potassium hydroxide - 10 euro/kg and can be recovered) and methanol (which I am able to buy in 1000L IBC tote for 20 cent/liter because it's not high quality but doesn't matter for this).

11:03 "the most mediocre thing, like stacking firewood could be the most rewarding" is a luxury not many people have but should learn to do so, I dont want to be cliche here but, there are really so many beautiful things in life such as just random puddles on the street reflecting a lamp post and Im glad my brain was wired or adopted to that kind of thing, maybe as a form of escape when growing up or something. I know we all lived all kinds of life, with many challenges in their on way that makes it hard for us, but growing up, made me realize, if it doesnt rain (which causes me a minor inconvenience) then I wouldnt be able to appreciate seeing the same puddles on the street, birds taking shelter on random houses windows and a street less crowded which gives a more serene feeling than normal.

When I watch your videos and others that live in the remote areas of Sweden, it brings back memories of my time in Northern Alberta, Canada. I see the lush, pristine land with lakes and bush land, untouched by man that take me back to a much more simplier time. I was fortunate to live with the Slavey people of northern Alberta. Your video of the dog sleigh, reminded me of the of that time as well. In the 70's the dogs sleigh was the way the people traveled and the horse drawn wagons were also used. Many of the things that you do to survive, ie cutting wood, was the way the people lived. Hunting for moose for food and tanning the hides to make moccasins was also part of their lifestyle. It was a wonderful time in my life and when I watch videos of that lifestyle it makes me smile. As you probably are aware Canada has been on fire. Those prestine lands have been burning. Although it is not unusual for us to have wildfires, the fires has been more extreme, all across Canada and out of control. The Northwest Territories have had over 300 fires burning. The city of Yellowknife had to evacuate their homes and movie south. I now live in the south of Alberta but we feel the effective of what is happening in the north. It has been extremely smokey

Great video Kalle! It's really inspiring to see the reality of your days and how long you can get absorbed into the things that keep your life viable, and love it! I think a lot more people would live like this if certain things in society shifted - I think a lot of systems have built up to the point where so many are "dependent" and it takes a lot to detach from that. I really commend you for taking that leap and I think a lot of us here are vicariously living through what you're doing. I plan on getting to a similar place before too long - thanks for the constant inspiration.

You survived last winter and enjoying the summer's end I see. Garden looks nice and the dogs look so very happy. Glad to see you have one of those hand rakes/pickers for the blueberry bushes. I recently mentioned one of those to others who complained about their fingers and hands being torn apart from picking berries (all types including blue) and they replied back that it would hurt/harm their plants/bushes. It gave me a chuckle to say the least because smart people use them without bringing any harm to the bush. I guess if you were reckless with it, maybe some harm? Guess they just like to complain and will choose sore/cut fingers instead lol. Keep the peacefulness going here.
