We call it heat tape here in Canada. Just a tip, when it gets cold and you are worried about the pipes freezing, leave one tap open enough to drip a bit, it worked for us.

I have a 20 something relative who is responsible for supporting his two children. He immaturely went on a wild “ fun” ride over rough terrain on a recreational vehicle. He flipped it and broke lots of stuff- could have died. He was unable to support his family for months and had to rely on his parents who still had younger kids at home to provide for. You are a father now. Please wear long pants, good heavy work boots and protective things when cutting firewood and using tools. Anything could happen in a second- and does. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I am making this comment with caring. Thanks for your great videos. This very old grandma loves them. God bless.

I love this Kalle , the water is so clear . Please know I care about you when I say this ... nobody splits firewood in their barefeet and bare legs !!! Only cityots do that !! 😊 You need to get some real work clothes, Carhart pants made of canvas and heavy leather workboots with vibram soles ! There's a reason they make them , to keep you safe from nails and splinters and axes that go sideways when you least expect it . PLEASE ❤❤

Hey Kalle, I work in water treatment and distribution in Canada. Regarding your concerns about freezing pipes; with your current set up you should be okay (at least in theory). We've had success with airation pipes (filled with pressurized air and atmospheric condensation) being above ground and exposed fully to the environment with insulation and a heat trace on the pipes in temperatures sometimes below -40 celcius. I know it's not the same as a full pipe of water, but you should almost certainly be okay since none of your plumbing is exposed. If you are worried on extremely cold days, just barely turn on your kitchen sink (maybe 1/8th) and just trickle it. Flowing water is much more resistant to freezing. Hope this helps in some way, congratulations again on your baby!

This is so exciting! It's a wonderful time in a property when you finally have running water in the house. I personally remember the first time we had running water. I didn't realize how much time I had spent hauling water. I know that it's been a process, but you should be proud. As far as a bathroom and winter heating, I have a idea that you might consider. And it may or not work for you. When I was growing up in Canada, we built a sauna, around the well house. And had a bathtub, and 2 wall showers inside as well. It kept the well from freezing, was cost effective, and gave us hot water for showers and baths. Now I don't know if this is a option for you, but it's something I think you should consider for the future. The property now has a hot water tank in the house, but this really saved us a lot of money and as the house didn't have central heating until later was a great way to fix many problems at once. I love your channel, thank you for sharing your hard work and time with us.

if you think you are going to be worried while being away from home that something could happen with your water or pipes, i suggest you should consider getting a few wireless aqua/water detection sensors and place them in key locations like under your sink. They are rather cheap nowadays and pretty easy to setup and configure yourself for your needs. Most people who use them have them set up to send out alerts to their cellphones. You can even configure them to shut down your pumping equipment. Cool channel you got and i hope to see more videos from you!
