I've always adored Yennefer, but after hearing her in the game in English version I found that her character was done ... perfectly, actually. I fell in love just with this voice, only then I just looked at actress' picture. She's average pretty, but despite that I really loved her. She even has the crooked jaw the same as Yennefer, so everything fits well ;D

+Servalath games are a fanfiction. I can understand where Yen was coming from in the books but when I played the games I was veering towards Shani and Triss. Shani because she actually loves Geralt and treats him fairly. Triss because despite all the mistakes she's made against him. In the end she wanted his happiness, in witcher 3 she was back burnering her feelings for him. Couldn't say no tbh as I felt the v bond between Geralt and Yennefer was because of that wish.

This is why I think Yennefer is the best option for Geralt. Politics, kings, the lodge, those have almost all been the source of Geralt's, Ciri's, and Yennefer's problems. Yennefer, despite the prestige and money with it all, wants to retire from it and have as close to a family life as she ever could with Geralt and Ciri. No more wars, no more games, just them finally having what they've wanted all this time.

If you already own the game on STEAM and pass there, then start NEW game +. Only reason why i didnt start new game + is because i own pirated version of the game, and i wanna buy it (my conscience dont giving me to play pirated version again). But no funds on STEAM but soon i will buy and play again. I passed Witcher 3 1 year ago. Its kinda awesome that i will not remember some missions from very beggining on second playthrough. But you should go for it if you have game on STEAM and if your conscience is fine with pirated version in case you dont own game on STEAM haha. BTW im pirating almost 80% of the games, but this one , i will BUY sooner or later hehe! :)

Nihilus IMO it's justified having so much content for Yen and much less for Triss, Yen wasn't there in the last 2 games so I think it is important to get to know her, more or less, if one hadn't read the books. Besides I got the impression that some characters seem to be quite different than they're actually in the books.

Nihilus I don't think reviving the corpse is so bad at all. How many people did you kill while following leads to Ciri, 100? 200? 500? You killed people for information, Yen just used one corpse to get information too. It's also "funny" how the villagers are insulting you for defiling the garden, but at the same time they throw his corpse onto a big pile of waste later.

Nihilus everyone in the game seems to be angry with Yen because she treats them like puppets and shes cold and rude to them :) thats one of the reasons i choose Triss over Yen... I had so much fun watching Lambert arguing with Yen (for me Lambert is one of the best characters in the game)

I found Yennifer will lose her edge if you choose the right replies (do a save before to see the different response results...you will see a change in her tone towards Geralt if you pick the right ones). As well try to keep your distance with Triss, as I found there was more anger when we spoke about the bed in one play through. And not as much when I avoided Triss...didn't have to swim back (remember Yen can read minds). Yen just talked calmly and wanted to forget about it... I found that strange at first but realized I didn't interact romantically with Triss for this play through. And if you defend Yen when Lambert tries to bring up Triss when you're having drinks with the other Witchers, Yen will be super nice after that and will take Geralt upstairs for a few hours of fun. (Tell him to F-off and to take it back...)...any other responses she will go to bed alone. When Ciri arrives in the later part of the game Yen seems to soften up even more as she starts to envy Geralt's relationship with Ciri, if you develop the "do what Ciri wants" quest choices (for the better endings). Off topic...something I found recently. Remember in witcher 2 the two scholars who wanted Geralt to drink a potion for them for a reward, and report back? Well in the square of the Oxford university, near the pile of burned books there is a page from these scholars saying the potion is suppose to reverse witchers being sterile. Interesting... Also reading in the books, because sorceresses weld magic they become infertile, so they can't have children. Yennifer attempted to reverse this condition to become a mother in the books, but wasn't successful.

***** No...but arguing with her or pushing certain topics will infuriate Yen (Triss, memory conversation, or distrusting her motives... to name a few). Yen is impatient, as she reminds Geralt that it wasn't one of her strengths. So if you try to take the understanding patience stance, you might see a desperate mother who is looking for her lost child who is at risk of being captured from the Wild hunt. Someone going through this would make anyone come across as a bitch. Also some of the response choices seem to lead up to distrusting her actions, which will affect her treatment towards Geralt. Show you trust her and support her by not always questioning her motives and she becomes much nicer. Considering Yen spent her time building up a position in the Nilfgaard court after she was released to find Ciri. I get the feeling the Emperor had also learned that Yen wasn't part of the Lodge's great plan (confirmed from a later conversation with Phillipa, that Yen walks her own path), and with her past relationship with Ciri this placed her in a position of favor with the Emperor, so Yen used it to her advantage (very smart politically). When Yen mentions to Geralt that she realized while being away how much she loved him...I thought it was a line to manipulate him, but as the story plays out and you pursue a relationship with her you realize she really meant it. Hence why she wanted to know if the love she felt was real or it was the result of the wish Geralt used to save her life in the Last Wish (book). So if you pick supportive comments you will see that Yen's motive was to find Ciri and to position herself so that she could leave clean and free with Geralt, while she had an upper hand with the Emperor. This would have put a great deal of pressure on her, and with not knowing Ciri's fate Yen would have come across as a total bitch.

And you are right, at the Thanedd banquet pretty much every sorcerer was trying to read his mind and he knew it (being a witcher he can detect that), he even "answered" in his mind to them, quite strong statement in that passage by him towards Yennefer, she was noticeably delighted by his statement :) The game kinda implies that only Yennefer can do it and Geralt doesn't like it. That's correct, Geralt doesn't like it, if anyone just do it whenever that one wants, however he does let her read his mind. Apparently when they are alone, he thinks of nice things for her, something the game kinda skipped.

Andrzej Sapkowski (author of The Witcher) actualy made an opposite endinto the saga some time later. The whole sequence was about Yennefer's and Geralt' marriage. Yes he made the marriage cannon! Some funny moments were there also like Geralt was Getting ready for the marriage and Yen started.flirting with him and then they had sex just after getting ready for the fest :D Ciri was finally their actual daughter and Geralt and was obviously the perfect husband and fatber for her.

I just can’t especially after Lady of the Lake, Yen and Geralt deserve each other, while Triss was just horny most of the time and then betrayed her “best” friend, in a moment where Yen sacrificed herself to try to save Ciri… Plus even in context of games, he sacrificed himself to Wild Hunt to have her freed. PS: should have been Yen vs Fringilla still Yen would win, but I would be more tempted, because he loved her in a way… PPS: I was okay with ploughing her first 2 games since Geralt didn’t remember a thing…

This may sound extremely silly, but when I first got this scene...I didn't trust it. I thought this was Phillipa taking on Yennefer's form and trying to get Geralt to agree to move away. I mean. When you go with her to find the Sunstone she literally tells you to take Yennefer(Or Triss if you went that route) and go far away with her. That way, Geralt won't be there to get in Phillipa's way when she took her place besides Ciri as Empress. However there are two things to confirm this was not Phillipa. One, she kisses Geralt in the end. Which I know Phillipa would never do even to be convincing. And two, in Blood and Wine during the Yen ending. Yennefer confirms she had this chat with Geralt. So, obviously that proves it's her. Anyway, it's a nice scene overall and I do think Yennefer is a better ending for Geralt. I like Triss. I do. Despite the stuff she's done in the past, I do think she truly loves Geralt. However even in the end she's involved with politics. And Geralt has said time and time again that he wants to escape politics. With Yennefer it's completely over. Geralt just get's to enjoy his life with the woman he truly loves.

young, "childish/warm personality" -Triss choosers and I read a poll saying the red hair was a big plus for many...Yen is 91 years old btw ...still younger than the 400 something Melisandra but still I guess it mattered. I admit not knowing anything about the characters I chose Triss as well, but my husband who knew the story was like "No thanks, I'm going with Yen, no buts, you'll see later" ...and then later I was like "yeah, good choice, sorry". Even if you take away Triss' lies and deceptions and only choose to see the good side of her she's still boring so I think it's more of a look based choice for many and then they stay on that path.

yennefer is amazing, triss is nice but a friend with potential possibly if yennefer wasn't around but i think they'd burn out fast honestly. i liked keira metz alot in velen, she seemed truly sincere friendly and likeable and just amazing, but then she did a total 180 and was going to sell the means to mass produce the plague to radovid.... :( luckily the game autosaved just b4 i talked to her for the last time so i was able to revert quickly b4 i had to fight her and figure out how to get her to kaer morhen instead of going to radovid, she even gave me the notes from alexander instead of keeping htem like the guides says she always keeps them if she goes to kaer morhen. but yeah at the time we met keira and were dealing with her, i had only seen yennefer in the initial cutscene and then briefly before going to velen. yennefer turns out to be amazing, has a few faults, but geralt has a metric ton of faults and i'd rather be playing as yennefer then him, the sorcesses are nearly all more interesting deeper characters then him with more talent/abilities then him and better in combat then him.

I know this comment is 1 year old but that last bit I just can't agree with. Geralt is really good character. Interesting and badass. His backstory is great and honestly in combat there are maybe a handful of characters who could beat him 1 on 1. And none of them are sorceresses (Ciri, Vilgefortz and Regis come to mind).

I can imagine a future where they roam the continent plying their respective trades. Well, in the games Shani acted like an independant and mature woman with ambitions. She wanted to become an eminent doctor and she realised that Geralt wouldn't be happy with her, so he just let it go. Yennefer, on the other hand, abandoned court just to live with Geralt. So I am at the battle of Kaer Morhen and this scene still hasn't happened yet. All the preparations have been made and I just need to leave the castle for it to start. In the Triss part I left Triss on her own and didn't get the option to hear Dijkstra's story. I did Last Wish and confessed love for Yennefer and the time before that in the lab I got the love scene. Then got another one at Kaer Morhen. So when does this happen? Did I do something wrong at all?

msninabonita4 You are absolutely fine and did everything right. The Battle of Kaer Morhen isn't the end of the game, you will still get 10-20 hours with many great scenes with her and in particular with Ciri. This scene shown above happens later, near the real end of the game.

msninabonita4 You can do the Triss side missions - but if you want to have great and beautiful romance with Yen later - don't say to Triss "I love you" a the end of her last side mission in Novigrad... ;)

msninabonita4 This scene is near the end of the game, so it's take a while until you get it. You will get a quest called "The Last Wish" later at Skellige from her, that quest is really, REALLY important for her and your relationship with her. Do it and just go with the flow, you will know what to answer. Oh, and when she asks you to think about something, take the "kiss" and "stay to watch", remember my words ;)

K3NF0LK Oh, that is optional? When you arrive at Skellige with everyone (after the Battle of Kaer Morhen), the Nilfgaard army is also sailing to Skellige or is already there. I got a quest to free Fringila Vigo and i did, but before i could free her, i encountered Emhyr. I think in that dialogue it is settled then.

Kallelinski Oh I don't know, sorry for confusing you. I had thought this was before the battle of Kaer Morhen and Emhyr agreed to give some troops for aid when fighting the wild hunt. Like during that quest where you go everwhere and ask Roche, Zoltan, Emhyr etc..

I never had this scene, because I always choose Triss. I see that I made no mistake: there is no alchemy between Yen and Geralt in this scene compared to the one the witcher shares with Triss if he chooses her.

If you really pay attention to this game over the course of a few playthroughs you'll know that the intended ending is rejecting both Triss and Yennefer and living out your life as a Witcher on the Path, it also fits better with subsequent DLCs

Played the game for 10 times already, and i've only chosen Triss once, because i wanted to see what would happened on Triss romance route. Geralt and Triss, as sweet as they seems, doesn't have the chemistry just as Geralt and Yen route. Triss, behind her sweet demeanor, does plot something behind Geralt's back (albeit it's quite benign actually). Yen is blunt, but she always reveals the truth to Geralt, even though her course of actions can be quite unpleasant (performing necromancy on Skjall's corpse, for example).
