कमजोर हृदय के रोगी के कई लक्षण हो सकते हैं, लेकिन यदि यह पहले नहीं होता तो परिश्रम करने पर सांस फूलना बहुत महत्वपूर्ण होता है। दिल की विफलता के लक्षण पैर की सूजन के रूप में हो सकते हैं यदि यह पहले सांस फूलने से जुड़ा हो।
कुछ रोगियों को भूख में कमी और जल्दी तृप्ति होती है और ज्ञात हृदय विफलता रोगी में प्रारंभिक हृदय विफलता का निशान होता है।
पैरों में सूजन के साथ पेशाब कम होना और आधी रात को खांसी जो बैठने के बाद कम हो जाती है या सोते समय अधिक तकिए की जरूरत होती है, यह हृदय गति रुकने का पूर्ण विकसित लक्षण है।
परीक्षा के दौरान इकोकार्डियोग्राफी बहुत महत्वपूर्ण जांच है और दिल की विफलता के प्रकार की पुष्टि के साथ-साथ बहुत सारी जानकारी देती है।
मुख्य रूप से तीन प्रकार के प्रबंधन की सलाह दी जाती है। चिकित्सा प्रबंधन पहला विकल्प है और किसी भी आक्रामक चिकित्सा पर जाने से पहले इसे पसंद किया जाता है। यदि रोगी चिकित्सा (दवा उपचार) पर प्रतिक्रिया नहीं देता है तो सीआरटी जैसे प्रबंधन उपकरण चिकित्सा अगले स्तर की चिकित्सा है। यदि वह अभी भी बेहतर नहीं करता है या रोगसूचक रहता है तो उसे कार्डियक ट्रांसप्लांट की पेशकश की जानी चाहिए जो एक स्थापित उपचार है और प्रभावी भी है।
