Never did I think I would have risen in knowledge to a point where I am able to correct Kamalhaasan. Most of the fossil fuel we find today formed millions of years before the first dinosaurs. The fuel material originated from plants and microscopic life. We are not running cars on dead dinosaurs. Having said that, the concept mentioned by Kamal stays true. One life gives way for another to flourish. My correction is a mere technical correction on the accuracy of the facts. The overarching truth and wisdom of his statement remains.

11.00 to 11.49, if my limited Thamizh understanding is helping me here, this is what i have always credited KH for. Of course, my sample size is only Thevar Magan but one gets the feel that he doesn't trivialize death. There is remorse when he kills an opponent. There is no duet with an actress or running to rescue the rest of his family after downing a villain/henchman with a machine gun. (pardon if this has happened in his '80s movies) But then he could be accused of playing himself. Why does the character he's playing need to reflect his real life ideologies? :)

Santosh Kumar T K Some actors leave their signatures beyond acting. Those signatures could be what their passion is, philosophy or ideology is, or at the basic level, even an acting subtler than the director would expect the actor to perform. Kamal tries, in my observation and understanding, to leave his signature through his ideologies. This will make an informed, educated, or thinking audience to separate the drama or any other commercial aspect in a film and relate it laterally to life or contemporary politics. This is an innate nature of art's deliverance. Mohanlal, on the other hand, leaves his signature through subtler acting. He is a natural actor, unlike Mammootty or Kamal Hassan, who have trained and experimented quite a lot within themselves. If you'd watched some of very early Mohanlal films in Malayalam, you would see very few experiments. Since sometime in the 1980s he has started establishing his style, which only got subtler, but not expanded in terms of experimentation. We need all these types of actors for entertainment, but it's beautiful that the interpretation of all these different forms of art - acting or making a film, etc., that leave a mark for each of these artists - actors, directors, script writers, cameraman/woman, etc., - even long after their departure from this earth! Diversity! Vividity! Allegory! These are all what, I think, make the cinema captivate people for ages...

Santosh Kumar T K Well on the last line you have put a question. The answer to that is at this stage of his career he does not want to do movies for commercial reasons. If he want, he could easily do a Dabaang or Endhiran kind of a movie. He want to establish his mark on things that he believe. So it is hard for him to waste his time on something that he don't believe in. So he has the right to pick and choose his characters and tune them to the way he wants. After his life , in say another 20-25 years, when people look back at his movies they usually see the recent past movies to get an idea of who was Kamal.

Aj Na He says, the first half in original Malayalam version is approx. 10 min longer than in Tamil. And he asked the director whether they could make a change, for example, including a dialect, in Tamil version, to which the director agreed, says Kamal. As I understand, he only appreciates Mohanlal's acting in the film and wonders about his recommendation of Kamal playing his character in Tamil. Nothing more to add!
