I am from Trinidad. I say I am from Trinidad because 1. My blackness is obvious, so why do I have to lead with that? 2. Being black is not my identity; it is a category that I have no issue being a part of. But my culture is a big part of my identity. And that culture is Trinidadian: steel drums, cook-up rice, roti, calypso music, carnival, and patois... That does not mean I am denying my ancestors were slaves or denying my blackness. Stokley Carmichael was from Trinidad. I am sure someone from Jamaica would tell you the same. A person can be more than one thing.

They are so ignorant bro. Black is an umbrella term for people with dark skin tone but black people come from different places , grow up with different lifestyles. Im from guyana, and I know I'm black but I am very aware that I'm afro Guyanese since it is not one african group that was stolen from their lands. All of the slaves were black but not all blacks were yorobu, or Xhosa, or Zulu. So yes Americans you're may be black but that doesn't say much other than you're dark in complexion. If I say I'm from Guyanese, you will only know I'm from guyana. B6

Lord have mercy. 🤦🏾♂️ Can any of these people see the forest for the trees?? I know folks want to have their platform, and have discussions, but have some common sense. 1. Who cares. She is Black and Indian. And if she was Indian two years and left that to become Black, she’s be named Nikki Harris. 🤬 2. A prosecutor’s job is to try cases. There is no “she put this person in prison.” Sentencing is the SOLE job of the judge. If that person did the actus reus of that crime and had the requisite mens rea for that crime, then hey, have some personal responsibility as a grown ass adult. Just because someone sets traps for black folk (weed) don’t mean we gotta walk into all of them and then start crying when the foreseeable happens. That stuff was made illegal specifically to do exactly what it does: put us in jail and strip our right to vote. It ain’t Kamala Harris’ fault. 3) Trump has a laundry list of disrespect of black people that Kamala Harris couldn’t come close to if she tried. Folks keep acting like there’s actually an alternative in Republicans for grievances in someone like Biden and/or Harris. There isn’t. Trump has not, does not, and is not done, doing, or going to do anything for black folk. If you believe the lies about helping HBCUs, go check your facts. The other thing is that, regardless of who you are as a candidate, you have to walk a certain tightrope to get in office. I want policies to benefit Black folk as much as anyone else, but this is America. Go run on that platform and see if you win. Ask Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. It is what it is. It isn’t fair, but it is reality. I’m not saying Harris is above criticism; she isn’t. But some folks aren’t applying the same standards to Trump and Harris.

They talked as though Black Jamaicans and African Americans did not all come from Africa through enslavement. They talked about slavery as the number one criterion of being "Black". If you want to know what he did for blacks when he was in office you need open your horizons and listen to people not trying to jam him up (I can't write a chapter here). And please compare to what other presidents have done - actual presidents only, because their job doesn't extend to identity groups, but all people as a collective - US and the governing all of the states as part of a union. They can't intercede into communities in Philly or LA and put in work stations or clinics. The president's job is as a national representative on a world stage and leader (international affairs such as trading; commander and chief; protecting the border and those of us with in it - the interests of all Americans). Candidates will say anything but are more limited than they'll have people believe. Regarding blacks or any identity group: that's the affairs of our other, local, leaders who are actually the biggest influence in lives of specific kinds of people. Before president Trump was the bomb according to black leaders and he received numerous awards as his efforts as just one citizen who went out of his way personally to help black citizens (Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Oprah highlighted that fact). That fame died quick when he announced his candidacy for president in 2016 as a Republican when Dem media started lying about him... I personally don't like him nor appreciate his demeanor but I'll say in all honesty that the biggest issue for working class blacks and others is our BORDER which Kamala/Biden destroyed. 20 million illegals taking American jobs and receiving American benefits and being pushed into the poorer communities around the country. Fueling the drug rackets which killing 50-100k a year and the drug war incarceration campaign within cities across the country. That's a border issue and needs fighting there. PS. As per reparations and another mentioned: that's a role congress would play. They vote on nation finances. There needs an ADOS advocate group to address them. Peace

@@amyjoyce2301 I'm very aware of how long ago he was in office as I'm aware that presidential terms are 4 years. I'm also aware that things don't start and end with the president solely. So if you think I'm that ignorant, I'm sorry that's not me. I don't rely on the voices and opinions of others to formulate opinions about people. I actually listen for myself, so nobody has to lie or tell the truth about him. If he really had a well mapped out plan that was in our best interest he would simply articulate that instead of doing nothing but spewing ignorance, hate, and divisiveness. He was literally asked "why should black people trust you with their vote?" Simple question if you ask me and this fool decides to start throwing shots and didn't address the question AT ALL! That's no spin it's a fact. He would rather have people up in arms than just address simple things. Are you for police immunity or not? That's a simple no if that's your stance. But we know what his answer was. I'm no dummy and it pains me to be honest seeing how many people are in this country that actually gives that idiot a platform. You guys came up in my algorithm again..and i listened. Damn! You two are looking at politics from a surface level. Focus more on policies and less on the marketing/pandering they do. On a critical thinking level, you guys are slandering Kamala for everything the opposing party ALSO does not ...and won't offer. I recommend digging a bit deeper into civics. Greater knowledge + your confidence ... and you two will be tolerable.

Have to push back and disagree with you on a couple of things, just because you went to school and you have a certain amount of degrees doesn't make you intellectually smarter than most people.. I'm listening to you speak and you're just simply speaking like regular people with your own particular positions Tariq Nasheed has great talking points and great intellectual positions. And he's in high school dropout. And he's way wealthier than both of you guys combined LOL it's not about education. There are a lot of top earners who make a lot of money and they've never been inside of a college campus. Education doesn't mean intellectuality. Is college degrees does it mean anything it just means that you'll be able to get a great job. Because I come across great KZbinrs and great KZbin content all the time come and these guys speak well have great positions on particular issues. And they don't have College degrees...

Her father is Asian and Irish so, there is no blackness in her. We need to claim our heritage as Israelites and move on from there. What she did in the ATL was discussing. Meg and any rapper don't speak for the majority of us. Come to the table with more than a fork.
