Heartland was one of the most poignant memoirs I've read in recent years. Looking forward to reading these essays. That looks like an incredible book collection behind her and is testament to her intelligence and writing skill. Would love to know what that matching set of green and brown hardcovers are on the centre shelf.

As a farm girl from Ohio and an only average transplanted city girl, I loved your talk. There are so many things city people don't understand. I was with a couple of friends, one of who's husband was from a farm. They spoke disparagingly of hunting. I wish I'd spoken up. Where I lived, that was part of our culture. Were I a Native person, they would have had a different reaction. I miss the farm.

I grew up on a farm and no one in my family really hunted. Just figured it was for the city guys to get out to the country to get away from the city.

It’s about time we talk about class differences in America the shrinking working class, and all our crisis listed…in our sound bite and journalism deserts.

Online media has evolved to a degree to fill in gaps, mostly on national news.

I have to go to one of my multiple jobs so I’ll listen to this again and try to gather my thoughts. So far the vocabulary of a politician , journalist and academic is jumping out- The narrative Toxic Media ecosphere Etc I ordered the book at the library- might be a long wait.

It was very easy for me to investigate Tim Walz- apparently this woman accepts the theater. Vibe? His own family know he’s a fake. And stolen valor. I work in a city and I work on farms and ranches - two different worlds completely. First girl in the family line to graduate college, worked full time while doing a full course load and having a long commute. I worked as a servant to the rich in the Hamptons- the intersection, if you will, of power, money, art, corporations, banks. I served at the banquets of their wedding alliances. Son of investment banker marries daughter of famous news anchor. They raised money for both parties- a famous democrat raising money for Republicans, Republicans raising money for Democrats. It’s all theater and they laugh about the “lower” classes as they pay minimum wages. I live in a wealthy area - and I get to hear about all the political corruption. I think I have more of a finger on the pulse- I’ve been observing and listening all my life to real people. And I’m observing all the damage from the shots- but no journalist wants to touch that. 600 new billionaires might object.

We lose truth, and become too comfortable too complacent and more ignorant in the process of US wanting to avoid the negative the dark the uncertainty that make US uncomfortable. We’re good at avoiding discomfort.

PS I think Elizabeth Warren's media presence was HORRIBLE- it seemed.... all the media assholes should have just let a smart person talk instead of protecting their jobs as "experts" Just let it roll- we are all thirsty for reality

This is a great interview but I found the video editing hugely distracting, made the video jumpy and jerky.

New to this author. Why do women wear skimpy tank tops when presenting themselves professionally? Hard to understand some of her message. What was her industry that she vaguely references? Kind of all over the place.

I do not know this woman and I thought to listen until I saw in the description that she was backibg Killer Kam and Weeping Walz as a solution to the problem and I knew INSTANTLY her head was on backwards. So I i passed

Maybe you could have learned something if you’d taken the time to watch and listen. Rather, you feel entitled to make a comment filled with hate, vile, and middle school-level name calling. You too will find that elections have consequences.

Tim Walz is a proven liar, irregardless of his"good ol' grampa" image.

I know my comment is late so you probably won’t see it but what do you mean by “proven liar”. Not trying to argue, I am genuinely interested
