I was in NC when I had almost the same experience VP Kamala described here with that older lady. For me, it was with a group of African American teens when they saw me and another person walking through their neighborhood canvassing for then Senator Obama and yelled at us, "They're ain't gonna let no --fill in the blank-- be no President!" I felt sad and told them I disagreed with them but just kept going. I knew why they thought that way but I also believed he could win so I kept signing people up to vote. I'm the little white girl who came home to the projects as baby, grew up in abject poverty in housing projects and trailer parks and then got two degrees, taught, wrote and moved to California. I know anything's possilbe with hard work and determintion. Then I got really sick and the ACA was there for me and millions of other people like me. Thank you for giving us hope again that anything is possible.
