Background: Sport -- and in London, the first matches in the Northampton World Masters Tournament got under way at Wembley on Wednesday night (7 November). The competition, an eight-man invitation event, features among its first matches a clash between number two seed Hiddy Jahan of Pakistan and Australia's Dean Williams. Jahan lost the first game, but then he took the next two. The score reached seven-all in the fourth game.
999999,SYNOPSIS: It was a vital point for Jahan. Having lost the first game nine-four, he had fought back to win the next two games to six and two. Towards the end of a tight fourth game, he looked like getting back into a winning streak. But, at seven all, he lost the vital fifteenth point and was then game point down.
Jahan never won another point. Williams, with a determined display of power squash, took all the next eight points, and at eight-love served for the match in the fifth and final game.
With Jahan already beaten, a surprise could have been on the cards with number one seed Qamar Zaman of Pakistan facing Britain's Gawain Briars. Indeed, the two players shared the first four games, but at eight-five in the fifth, Zaman served for the match. Briars got a brief reprieve when the two players collided -- but this proved just a temporary delay.
This time Zaman made no mistake, and took the match nine-six, seven-nine, five-nine, nine-three and nine-five.

The player that won the first match in the first part of the vid was Dean Williams from Aussie, don't know who his opponent was though, and in the second game it was Qamar Zaman who beat Gawain Briars.

How good were these guys? Obviously they were pro's but Id be curous to see if they could keep up with modern day squash.

@@waltersavage4796 These guys would have footed it well with the players of today. You take the top players of the past and give them today's rackets and ball, they'd be fine to compete. One thing that's obvious in regards to today's matches is what we called back in the day 'the American scoring system'(where every point counts), this scoring system makes the matches of today shorter in duration compared to the English scoring system of the past where a player could only score a point on their serve.

I liked Dean Williams a lot. He was a hard hitting player, who was the runner up to Jahangir Khan at the 1982 World Open. I did see a fascinating match between Dean and Maqsood Ahmed from Pakistan in Karachi. It went to 5 games with Maqsood emerging as the winner. It was an upset win.
