This is how you pick a new singer. Qualities of the old singer, but clearly their own person as well. That way the band gets something new without changing their fundamental sound. As well as not expecting a new singer to sing in ranges not meant for them. Some bands miss the boat on that one. Kamelot did good picking Tommy. Excellent.
@MrPatrickAdair12 жыл бұрын
I have to admit I was extremely worried about their new singer not being able to hold up to Roy, I am so happy my worries were totally unfounded. Not only is it the same Kamelot that I've loved for years, but Tommy adds his own personality to the vocals, and it works. Perfectly executed member change. Keep it up guys!

The problem with most of us is that we continue to compare Tommy to Roy, we keep thinking in the old Kamelot. While I admit, Roy was an amazing talent and a great singer for Kamelot, he's gone now, and I have accepted that. We shouldn't compare Tommy to Khan; we should judge him as his own talent. I personally love this album and Tommy. Wishing the best for Kamelot!
@Shorty15c400710 жыл бұрын
Tommy is definitely capable of carrying the torch. Half of the time I hear Kahn when he opens his mouth, but he has his own thing which makes it work great.
@nekcoques923510 жыл бұрын
I believe that what people complain the most about is that Roy's talent was too big compared to Tommy's, I personally think he just didn't fill the hole, and even if I'm being unfair, their music has changed too much since Roy left (and i am not only speaking about this song) so it doesn't really feel like Kamelot anymore. Just my opinion.
@patrickmontgomery635310 жыл бұрын
I honesty can't really tell the difference. I think they are both great singers!!!!

I was thinking the same thing. I miss Roy, although Tommy is doing an awesome job, Roy had something more. He really sang from the heart. I went to see them live shortly before they announced the split and it was amazing. Keep on doing good music Kamelot. :)
@JohnyVman10 жыл бұрын
True to that, i personaly feel that this album is better than Poetry for the Poisoned, it brings memories from Karma, Epica, Black halo and ghost opera, and Tommy's voice is very compatible with Kamelot's. Khan was great but Kamelot are not gone.

Lyrics A passing life each day, a carving on the wall It’s like a night without awakening The truth is lost, and maybe never to be found Like the shadows of my pantomime When all the world is gathered for the final feast, Will there be someone to believe in me? Voices echoing in my distorted mind Is this for real or just a dream? (Am I losing my mind? I am not afraid, my dear) Sing for me angel of afterlife calming me down Chaos inside my nebula And make the wrong turn to right in a celestial light Forgive my sacrimony Tell me what they say that I’m supposed to know Tell me every little detail Make truth appear for me as distant memories Like pictures on a silver screen Elize Ryd: It all becomes clear The truth will appear Forever a debt for you and me Sing for me angel of afterlife calming me down Chaos inside my nebula And make the wrong turn to right in a celestial light Forgive my sacrimony Alissa White-Gluz: And now leave me alone Erase my memory Don’t want to hear, don’t want to see Don’t want to think about the lie that follows me All becomes clear But no one will hear my testimony Elize Ryd: I am your angel of afterlife calming you down Silence inside your nebula And when the wrong turns to right in a celestial light I’ll be your testimony Sing for me angel of afterlife calming me down Chaos inside my nebula And make the wrong turn to right in a celestial light Forgive my sacrimony (Ring around a rosie, A pocketful of posies, Ashes, ashes We all fall down) Songwriters: karevik / palotai

@@Wrevols There's a happy family, that consists of the father, mother, 2 brother twins, and 1 sister. One brother accidentally shove his sister to the river down below. His father got mad at both the mother and the brother. But he pick the wrong brother, the other one. The one that shove the sister was covered in guilt. In 1888 they meet again, the brother still covered in guilt and the other brother asked "still thinks about that?" and the father appeared and the other brother became angry asf and the father died from heart attack

@rikosborne12126 жыл бұрын
@@Wrevols There are two brothers and a sister. Sister is father's favorite. One brother, completely accidentally, kills his sister. This causes mental breakdowns in both the brother and the father. The brother is so completely overwhelmed with guilt that he can no longer function; by the standards of the time shown in the setting of the story, he becomes insane. The father is so overcome with anger that he cannot forgive his son, and becomes insane. Father's unrelenting anger drives the "guilty" son further and further into himself and his guilt, all the way into the son's adulthood. "Guilty" son keeps reliving the event that killed his sister. Meanwhile, the "not guilty" son does his best as a mediator, doing what he can to protect his brother from their father's wrath, because father's insane anger just won't let go. Father dies, "not guilty" son is finally relieved of needing to protect his brother. And, finally, without his insane father reminding him every day of his guilt, the "guilty" son has a vision of his sister coming to him and forgiving him. God, I'm tearing up just explaining it. It's a heartbreaking story with a happy ending about forgiveness.

As I've brought up before on other videos, I see Roy and Tommy as being different in subtle ways. Most here in the comments can tell because, well, we're either metalheads, Kamelot fans, or both. Roy tended to switch from a deeper register to a higher register often, showcasing his background in opera. The darker, deeper notes were Roy's signature. Tommy, on the other hand, remains in a soaring high register for most of the songs he is on. This is more of Power's Metal's signature vocal style, so it's expected. This style of vocals compliments Silverthorn's addition of driving synthesizer in a few of the songs, lightening up much of the album.

Plot of the video as I see it: A rich family of five live in a mansion, next to a river, on a piece of land in the country. One of the children, a boy and the oldest of the three (The boy in red) is flying a kite on the roof when his brother, the middle child (The boy in black), joins him on the roof and demands that he have a turn with the kite. Meanwhile, their sister, The youngest (The little girl), is chatting with their mother in the parlour. She has a very active imagination and is telling her mother a story that she came up with. Growing bored with staying inside she tells her mother that she's off to play with her bothers. The mother (The woman) watches her leave with a smile on her face, her heart swelling in adoration for her precious daughter. The girl joins her brothers on the roof, sees the kite and starts amusing herself with her imagination, waving at it as if it were a giant talking butterfly and giggling when she imagines a small man clinging to it for dear life, parachute strapped to his back. She's too involved with staring at the kite to notice that the middle child is fed up with his older brother not sharing and begins to fight for control of the kite. In the tussle, their sister is knocked off the roof and she screams before she hits the water below, dying on impact (because she landed wrong, a bellyflop from that height can kill you). Both parents hear the scream and the father immediately rushes home to see what happend. When he arrives, the boys have already told the mother and she tells him the news. He comforts her for a brief moment before his grief surfaces in the form of anger and he blames her, saying that if she hadn't let their daughter play outside that day, then she would still be alive. He storms off, leaving her in tears. He finds his sons and immediately begins yelling at his first born, telling him that he was foolish for playing on the roof and starting a fight with his brother. The oldest boy tries to explain but his father beats him while his younger brother sits with his back turned, consumed by guilt and in the throes of a panic attack, because he feels that his father is blaming everyone except the person at fault: him. Their mother dies a month later of a broken heart and the boys are left to be raised by an abusive father. Flash forward many years and the brothers are now young men. The younger brother has been haunted by guilt and grief his entire life and is in the middle of a panic attack, similar to the one he had on the day of his sister's death. The older brother tries to console him, as he has many times, saying that it's not his fault. He had taken his father's blame for the incident throughout the remainder of their childhood because he wanted to protect his little brother from his father's abuse. As the elder brother consoles the younger, their father returns home in a drunken haze, still pointing the finger of blame at his oldest son. The father tries to beat his first born again, but this time he's a grown man. The older brother easily throws the old man to the ground and declares that he no longer considers him is father and storms off, leaving his father dying of a heart attack on the ground. This incident is the final nail in the coffin for the younger brother as grief and guilt consume him and drive him to insanity. He ends up in bedlam and his days are filled with screaming, sobbing and rocking back and forth while murmuring to himself and slapping the sides of his head with his fingers. The grudge-esque woman symbolises his guilt in the form of the corpse of what his little sister would look like if she had grown up. The woman in black symbolises (obviously) the angel of death, or in the case of the song, the angel of afterlife. The singer is the man's spirit, if you will, praying for death and forgiveness at the same time and hoping that everything will be made right by God's grace. The part when the angel of afterlife herself sings is when she answers his prayer. The end, when he hallucinates his little sister alive and well symbolises a kind of death or afterlife, as his mind no longer lives in the real world. REAL SAD STORY, YO.
