@VashGR3 жыл бұрын
No worries it was an honest mistake and has nothing really to do with the musical analysis for the song. As for Allisa, in her current band Arch Enemy she does harsh vocals 99.9% of the time. I would strongly recommend her previous band The Agonist. "Thank you pain", "and their eulogies sang me to sleep" and "ideomotor" are great songs with about 40/60 clean/harsh vocals from her. Personally I really like her cleans and think it's a shame she doesn't use them in Arch Enemy.
@TimGallant3 жыл бұрын
I am SO glad to learn (a bit late) that you're starting to dig into Tommy. I love Roy Khan and when he quit Kamelot, I felt absolutely certain that it was going to be all downhill from there. I had no idea who Tommy Karevik was. Then I heard the Silverthorn album, and the rest is history. What a wonderful singer. His voice is beautiful and powerful, and aches at all the right moments. He's probably my absolute favourite vocalist right now. The power stuff is amazing, but it's the ballads that really get me. (I don't know what's out there so far as live videos, but his performance on Seventh Wonder's Beyond Today gets me every time.)

Annette sang at the next show in Salt Lake, and then was replaced with Floor, who had 48 hours to learn the songs.

I was lucky enough to see Kamelot opening for Nightwish on the tour when Annette (the Nightwish singer) was let go and they brought in Floor Jansen (there's a great documentary out there about this). It was the fourth concert with Floor - and only the fifth day since she replaced Annette - and she did great. Kamelot was also wonderful. While they had Tommy at that point (alas, I missed ever seeing Roy), they hadn't yet released the album that this song is from. Not too long later, Kamelot was headlining their own show, with Eklipse and Delain opening. They heavily featured the songs from Silverthorn, and it was glorious. One of my favorite overall albums from Kamelot. Alissa and Elize as always were amazing at the earlier show. The two of them - one dressed in all white, one in all black - doing vocals on March of Mephisto was particularly cool live. The later show featured the ladies of Eklipse - featured on Kamelot's album - joining them on stage for the appropriate songs, and they were great too. Silverthorn has a great story, and some of the songs (as usual for Kamelot) have some very deep and complex lyrics. If you haven't listened to the album as a whole by now, I highly recommend doing so. Their best overall work since the two-parter Epica (the album the band named themselves after) and The Black Halo.

If you wanna hear more Alissa, try Arch enemy “Nemesis” live at Wacken. It’s an official live video and it’s quite the show. For Elize, there’s a few amaranthe songs to try, for a ballad, “Amaranthine”. Another good classic is “Hunger”. A newer song you could try is “Archangel”. Overall amaranthe is a very unique band and I think you’ll get a LOT out of them, there’s 3 vocalists so there’s a lot to decipher Edit: Oh and Elize is 36, so not like starting career young, but still quite young, she just hasn’t really aged in all the years haha

That thumbnail, I'll guess tha's from the moment Elizabeth heard Alissa's singing. Great follow up since "Jinjer - Pisces". Tommy is an awesome singer, so is Elize. I hope Arch Enemy and Amaranthe are on your future reaction lists. Also you mentioned Anette Olzon, maybe you could hear her singing someday? "Bye Bye Beautiful", "Amaranth" and "Storytime" come to mind as cool Anette performances with Nightwish.

If you want to hear Alissa White-Gluz doing both styles with Kamelot, check out Liar Liar. It is perhaps the best 1-2 punch of her vocals I've heard. (It is a shame Arch Enemy doesn't generally let her do clean vocals).

Elize and Alissa were the original performers for this song (the music video is very worth checking out as well... though the video makes it clear how desperately sad the story of this song is). I recommend checking out Liar Liar next, but the music video has been edited for time and cuts out some of the guitar / keyboard parts... so while the video is great for visuals it may be best to react to a lyric video or a live performance. Liar Liar is one of the few songs where you can hear Alissa sing clean.

If you do more Amaranthe be careful as there's a few of the more popular songs that don't feature Elize much. Archangel is probably the best one to check out currently: contains the band's current lineup, shows off decently Elize's vocal capabilities (though still only 3/4 of what she's capable of) and has enough different costumes to start up a costume shop!
