Thank you Pedro for another informative review can't wait to hear this album. I only descoverd kamelot about a year ago they are much more than your average power metal bands. They really understand understand how how to use light and shade. Probably the best power metal on the planet.

I really liked this album. I can also relate to being a big fan of the looking glass. That song goes so hard, and the lyrics are beautiful. I'd also mention Blood moon too. A lot of the same things that make the looking glass work are in full swing there. A criticism i have though is that this just feels more like a bunch of new songs Kamelot will add to their touring setlist than a theatrical album-like experience that tells a story. We get the two ballads, an intro, outro, and then the other songs. They've been structuring albums like this for a decade and I know they can do better.

Very nice review! Useless Fun Fact 😄. The guy that made the artwork for the album (Giannis Nakos of Remedy Art Design) is the vocalist of a Brutal Death Metal group called Mortal Torment.

The Looking Glass is the only song that really stands out and can match the Kamelot classics, I've had it on repeat since release. The way that melody comes together and how Tommy progresses the chorus vocals is just amazing, and reignites that feeling I used to get with their classic songs from albums between The Fourth Legacy and The Black Halo. The verse parts and solo section aren't so strong, but that chorus section is just so damn good. Tommy really nails it here, and it sounds like he isn't holding back while also not forcing himself to be like Roy. How this isn't a single is beyond me, as it's by far the strongest song. As a long time fan with Kamelot being one of my favourite bands, this album was ultimately disappointing. The production is great, the high level of musical craftsmanship is obvious, but it just lacks the special sauce that made classic songs in the past. I feel like Tommy, and the songs in general are both too often leaning into a broadway theatre style, which comes off a bit corny and doesn't really hit home, which is evident in a lot of the hymn like choruses, or the more story like/descriptive verse sections which lack that memorable musicality and deeper more passionate emotional content, and the opening track The Great Divide is a great example of that. Too many songs that have potential are brought down by a chorus or verse section, and it's hard to find anything great from start to finish. There is almost a complete lack of memorable riffs or lead guitar parts. These aspects were already showing early signs and creeping in with Ghost Opera, but really became prominent when Tommy joined, and it seems like this album is a culmination of all albums since Ghost Opera (to a lesser degree Poetry for the Poisoned). On average probably better than The Shadow Theory, it also feels like the most generic Kamelot album, lacking real standout and unique memorable moments besides The Looking Glass.

Pedro, why haven't you made a reaction on Kamelot - One More Flag in the Ground? Without you, there is no one to steal ideas and thoughts in English from. I hope you and Antonio react to something new from Kamelot. Btw, a perfect album review as always!

@@APREACTS They just don't stand out anymore. That's the feeling I get. Maybe better than their last efforts but still not up to the expectations. I'll give it a few more spins nevertheless.

@@azwris The Looking Glass is the only one that stands out. The chorus and they way they work the melody is classic tier Kamelot, and Tommy really shines and his performance really makes it feel like a classic. He seems to really come into his own here, not holding back and not trying to copy Khan much, without any corny broadway theatre style hymn vocals. That said the verses and solo sections are a weak point, but the other parts are so strong. I've had the song on repeat.
