for me, Ryuki is wayyyy ahead of it's time. This battle royale genre would work great these days. The transition to the intro is so iconic and every kamen rider were designed beautifully. Never know why people dislike this series, but for me, this is a fresh take from the same old kamen rider formula.

Few great things about Ryuki: 1) Great songs especially that two insert songs during the fight scene. 2) First rider suits design does not based on insect is awesome. 3) Amazing finishing move even though is kinda slow. The story is amazing until the plot twist at the last two episodes screw it up the whole series, but I can say is an enjoyable show to watch. The character is fine for me, most characters doesn’t really attract me except Shinji; his kindness and use his power for protecting instead of murdering each like a complete moron, that what make me like him. For Asakura, he will be ended up in my sadist list; not at the top 5 list though because there are other sadist ways worse than Asakura.

I first heard about Kamen Rider through this show's adaptation Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, and I finally got around to watching Ryuki itself last November when Shout released it. If it's not my favorite season (I go back and forth on that a lot) it's definitely up there next to Build, OOO, Ex-aid, and Dragon Knight(yes Dragon Knight is one of my favourites, bite me). I like the idea of the characters not necessarily being superheroes and instead just people doing what they can to survive, this show has my favorite Rider with Ren(Kamen Rider Knight), my favorite suit in Tokusatsu with Knight Survive, and even it's filler content was actually entertaining. 10/10 IGN, would watch again, and reccomend to a friend, before my life ends Yes I did take that from Peter Knetter

As someone who grew up watching early 2000s kamen rider, Ryuki holds a special place in my heart. I like how the show deconstructs the concept of kamen rider by making the riders have their own personal reasons of becoming a rider (instead of the usual “fight for justice” motivation). It makes the show feel more “grounded". Also like how it shows the ruthlessness of mirror world/rider war and breaking away from the usual bug-eyed/insect motif design. Have to admit though, most characters (especially the riders) are pretty unlikable but for me it's one of strongest point of the show because it really fits the concept of battle royale Fun fact: Ryuki is actually one of the most beloved show in Japan despite its low rating during the initial run. Ranked at no.6 in 2021 NHK poll while Gaim is ranked at no. 12

To follow up with my previous comment, I finished Ryuki a few weeks ago and wow. I loved it sooo much, and I don’t care what anyone says I love the ending to the show. I like the in show ending, I haven’t seen the films but the shows ending is my ending. I wonder if Dragon Knight is also good though, but man Ryuki is now my third favorite Rider season it was that good. I really want this show to be on Blu-ray I’d rewatch it over and over again. My only gripe is that I wish some of the riders had more varied wishes and this is just a early Heisei gripe, but I really wished there was a little more action as it was pushed towards the end. Other than that 9/10, I adored this show.

I remember watching this and Kamen Rider Blade when a friend of mine gave me some recommendations for me when I was starting to get into Kamen Rider. I like Shinji, Tezuka, Ren, and Yui so much and the ending had me in tears.

To me Ryuki is simply perfect. I know that if you look at it from a critical standpoint there are a lot of flaws that are hard to miss when you notice them, but the good parts of it are so good they dont even matter to me. I love absolutely everything about this season. The characters, story, mysteries, atmosphere, etc. Im glad to see someone is as passionate about this season as i am

You know for Ryuki, i kinda suprised that the show managed to get a lot of hate, wich kinda suprising to me that in my place Indonesia, Ryuki seems to be more love by a lot of people and most part seems to hold a special heart in a lot of fans aswell. (Guest each country had different kind of taste on what show they like, for exp, Saber was mostly hated by most fans in the world, but was really loved in China) I tried to watch Ryuki, and to me it was amazing, sure Gaim did the whole battle royale much better, but still. For the hate, after i read some article, and i kinda understand why, i think it had something to do with the behind the scene stuff with the later part of the show, relating with Yasuko Kobayashi fight with Toshiki Inoe in term of how the show went on, or executive medling regarding the finall eps, the amount of unlikable character in the show, the main character shinji himself (to some people he just a huge idiot who let his idealism hurt anyone around him more rather than help them), so yeah

I still have to see more Kamen Rider series, but Gaim is a series that I am personally connected to. It gave me a great conclusion and a amazing journey along the way. The way I’d rank and rate the one’s I have currently finsihed is like this: 1. Gaim(10/10) Maaterpiece a perfect and emotional story about growing up to become a real adult in a dark world that requires sacrifice to grow. I also love the serialized nature of it and how it didn’t concern itself with a monster of the week. It stood out for me. 2. Build(9/10) I really have a tough time choosing between this and Ex-Aid as my number two, since I really don’t like what the follow up films did. If I do just consider the ending as the only last bit of canon then it wraps up well. 3. Ex-Aid(9/10) Fantastic series and one that combines medical drama and video game action well. 4. Zero-One(8 or 9/10) Very fun show and I don’t consider “Others” canon and honestly the competition arc did drag things down. Still Fuwa and Jin are some of the best Extra riders. 5. Blade(7 or 8/10) Zero-One is also hard to rank but I know I love it, but this is one has a good ending but Kenzaki is a very mid rider for me but I like his will and how he even took on bullets just to save a little girl. Chalice, Garren, and Leangle are awesome though. Definitely interested in watching Ryuki though, and I’m currently on Revice, Kuuga, and Kabuto. Also, I saw ZO and J but didn’t count them since they are short films and they are things I need to revisit as I currrnty rate ZO(4 or 5/10) and J(6/10). Great review either way.

Ryuki isn't just "my rider series", it's honestly my favorite tv series period. It balances the humor and drama well, has great action and, most importantly, an amazing cast of characters. Kitaoka especially, my all time favorite rider, is one of the most human characters I've seen in fiction and his arc closes perfectly. My only real complaint with the series is it should have ended roughly 10 minutes earlier with Ren dying in the hospital and Eri waking up. Never been a fan of big reset endings. Have the Shout Factory set preordered, can't wait for it to get here next week.

i know that not many people are fond this show, and will state that DK is superior but i don't care, i loved Ryuki the concept of having a Kamen Rider season as a Battle Royale is interesting and executed well, the characters are really entertaining, especially you guessed it Kitaoka, one of the best characters in the franchise, i loved the darker tone and atmosphere, issues i have regarding the series, is that the villains are ehh (Odin Sucked and excluding Asakura), and the ending kinda left a sour taste to my mouth.

Yep i didnt see review in detail but no doubt ryuki changed kamen rider as whole it used more of grey area characters than earlier series and no series can bring this much uniqueness again in kamen rider and how the mirror monsters werent the real antagonists and how all riders died is a cool thing No doubt i am content with yer choice

Ryuki is a great show. My favorite Kamen Rider is Kamen Rider Decade. My favorite Super Sentai is Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. I have not seen many Ultra Series but Orb is my favorite.

I think the "battle royale" aspect of gaim just kinda fell flat for me when the woman of the beginning was revealed cause that point on you just knew it was like guaranteed for 3 characters to make it to there so there was no actual tension in a way

WOW!!..........THIS REALLY HIT HARD.........never had i agree with a review for this series more then this ryuki is also as well my fave rider show ever and the first rider i had my eyes on i was looking into rider series ryuki looked the most intresting to me and after getting hooked hard by watching kuuga i wanted and went to watch other shows like some of ichigo zero one w ex aid build ooo and faiz i always had my eyes on ryuki for the theme of battle royal and suits and mirror monsters and then dicided to watch it and WOW it blew my mind even more then kuuga agito faiz and blade had me at the edge of my seat SHOCKED the characters the music the asthetics the story the suits it blew me away more then any rider series ive seen and ryuki (along with ultraman nexus) become my favorite toku ever GOD WHAT A SHOW!!!!! ryuki has the COOLEST KICKS the COOLEST SUITS the BEST CHARACTERS oh man and ALMOST the best soundtrack shinji is such a lovable lead ren is my favorite secendary rider with the best backstory for any toku charicter imo kitaoka is GOAT!! along with my man asakura shiro was such a unexpected villan for me yui almost made me cry with all her backstory gai and odin are bassicly the og genm and chronos shame gai died so early loved hes character so much i could just go on and on and ON AND ON about how much i love this series but i think its best if i save for my review for episode final may or may not be comming soon and maybe the series or the other aeries im very hppy to support you for the past year and your story for this chanel is simler to mine as well lol also i really hope you feel better with all the crap going on with how you been feeling lately with your jerk friends i hope 2022 will be a much better and the x music hits so so SO HARD!!! this is def my fave video BY far with agreeing with everything you said and being so relatable i cant wait to see whats nest and i hope things get better for you also F RIDER TIME RYUKI!!!!!!!

I'm going to be honest I really dislike this show, the plot is a mess, the main villan is terrible and 99% of the characters are just one dimensional assholes, hell even the fight aren't that interresting and most of the time they don't lead to nowhere and the monster fights........no, just no. Theres things that I like about the show, the OST is fire, the suits are my favorite from the franchise (Imperer being my favorite.....although seeing my profile pic is kinda obvious lol), and Mitsuru, Kitaoka, Goro and Asakura are all great characters. For me Ryuki is watchable and when is good is REALLY good but the flaws of the show really dragg what could have been a fantastic season.
