Luke actually plays a few parts here differently than on the album. The last two sweeps and the pattern right after them are different, same with the bit at 1:10. Still, I think it's awesome that they took the time to do this, it cleared up a few tough parts for me. Thanks for uploading this.

@BTBAMisAmazing Just went through the tab, the Taps in the Verse are identical if you look up the notes. The Sweeping outro is more or less identical too. In the tab there is an Amin shape instead of the Cmaj (the one time) and in the last two Sweeps the playing patten is different in the video. I guess they just forgot how they did the recording because they were playing live for so long. O well.

@kamikaz1k Has anyone else noticed that the legato run that they play first ( 0:00 - 1:45) is played totally differently on the album? they do a kinda back and forth motion here but on the album its just going straight. the pattern of legato riffs on the strings are as follows: 6th string, 5th, 4th,5th,4th,3rd,4th,2nd
@Kursplunky12 жыл бұрын
the legato runs are pretty tough, i've done scales for awhile so it's not too hard but i'm new to sweeping so i really am having trouble with the sweep arpeggios in the end.

bar 16/23: I feel like the version on the video reproduces the song fine. bar 18-19/25-32: If you compare the notes in the vid to tab, they're the same, just in diff position (cept for 2 notes in bar 28-32). ie. 0B(str) = A# = 19e(str), 19B = G# = 17e. bar 85-90: not worth getting into since he clearly explains how he wrote the part bar 109+112: I agree. and I think I conceded that already. Just noticed your comment about 8:19 being a semitone flat...I'm sure you've heard of confirmation bias?
@FiliFilizzola14 жыл бұрын
It's wierd because the legatto run luke does at around 1:45 (of the album track) is a little different than what he's doing here, at 0:42 . On the album de goes a little higher on the notes. Anybody else heard this?
@blackfireknight114 жыл бұрын
@TheLastSinger There's a program called ultra slowdowner or something. That you can slow the song down by percentages. Then change the pitch back to normal and then you just have a super slow version so you can hear each note individually. I'm not sure if that's how he does it, but thats how I do it.
@Baarannndon14 жыл бұрын
@kamikaz1k thank you dude of rockness :).idk like ive seen to have hit a plateau in my guitar learning and i know 5 different keys of the penatonic scale just not how to utilize it to solo.and ive been playing about a year and 5 months
@jamietrhcp1714 жыл бұрын
@TheLastSinger I learned this song using audacity, it's really helpful when you can isolate the left channel for Luke and right for Time. You can also slow things down, but that breaks up the sound and can make it more difficult, sometimes.

@kamikaz1k The legato run is easy because its all in the left hand. sweeps take more cooperation from both hands. Me, im good at sweeps so that part is easy but in my opinion, the hardest part is the tapping intro, playing it smoothly at least.

@billyuw ferreal? The legato runs (8:00 in part I) are by far the most difficult part in my humble opinion.

Protest could easily play that. Just because they dont spend the entire song soloing doesn't mean they couldn't if they wanted to. They allow melody and song structure to be the priority. And it pays off very well.

haha thanks and you're welcome. in my op, Kezia songs are as hard/harder to play. which way is the first riff they play supposed to be played? he plays it differently when he goes slow than when he plays it faster. The difference is during the scales and its after he goes down, and its when he goes back up them. Even on the tabs that are shown they are different. Which way is closest the the album version?

Hey is it just me or are the last two sweeps (and alt pick run after) different on the album? (think in standard tuning for a sec) I hear him go down FM and back up GM like in the vid, but the last two arps it sounds like he starts going down Am, but ascends again when he hits the 3rd string, then goes down to the root, then hits the F (5th below root in BbM arp) and goes up BbM, halfway down, back up to the 3rd (D on the 10th fret) then into the alt pick run.

@spizec 2.5 years? I wish i started earlier, but everything in its due time i suppose. Ive just recently realized how truly sloppy I am and am trying to clean up my shit. if you're still in your early phases for leaning, pay attention to your articulation/tone and use metronomes in your practice. seeing as I have been playing for so little time but can already see benefits hopefully means something. Btw, The Human Abstract had a guitar player AJ. Hadn't played long, but practiced well. \m/

@Baarannndon nice man, I would recommend you move on the the diatonic scales (like in classical music) specially in tech metal like this, its best to know all your tools. and honestly, from my experience I can tell you, there is no better way to learn how to improvise, than you just practice an ass-tonne of other people solos, break em down, and restring em. I was like you, i didnt learn many songs in the beginning, but trust me, it helps to diversify! That's how the greats do it, so should you!

@Baarannndon Depending on how you want to learn, you might want to start from justinguitar(dot)com it's great that you're using a metronome, it will be very useful later, and is doing a good job building your inner rhythm right now. Did you say 1.5 years or 0.5 years? either way, you're still pretty shallow in the water. There's a lot to pickup, improvisation will come slowly...learn about the Pentatonic scale from that website and go from there. Best of luck bro \m/

i dunno how long youve been playing, so im gonna be careful to try and not sound like an idiot to u. when you do do big shapes, its gonna be easier to stretch'n'slide. specially when u go from the Cmaj shape on 12 to the Cmin shape on 8. and by slide i dont mean press and slide, i mean like after hitting the last note on the pinky, while trying ot get next one on index u lift on the pink and slide hand over... i hope that came out clear >.> good luck in learning it :)
