this is extremely sad. and although it may hurt kamiyah initially, Kamaya should not be allowed to keep in contact with the kidnapper. kamiyah is so mentally emotionally psychologically damaged that kamaiyah is now subconsciously abusing her own self by keeping in touch with the person who kidnapped her. she's sabotaging her own health and progress by believing the lie and continuing the course of action. I believe kamiyah is in a lot of emotional pain and turmoil and she's angry and spiteful which is not shocking. Kamaiyah may never understand the lifelong pain of her mother until she has a child of her own

I do understand your point but there seems to be multiple issues here. Sure, understandably she will continue to love the woman who raised her, the woman she knew as her mother. And yes Iyanla Vanzant did seem to come on strong and maybe she should not have been brought into the equation with her style of therapy. BUT there is definitely an issue with that young woman's character. The promiscuous way that she lashed out at Iyanla was about "her" and after hearing how she was raised, quite frankly I was truly taken aback by her disrespectful behavior towards her elders. Yes, she's hurt and she is confused and traumatized, but where are those words coming from, where is that temper tantrum lined with curse words like that coming from. I won't try to diagnose it although I have my opinion, but I will say it needs to be addressed in therapy by a calmer, kinder, compassionate therapist that this young woman could probably relate to in a better way. She's on a tough Journey right now and is going to need personal, private, loving constructive criticism and advice the instead of harsh public shaming. She didn't have anything to do with the crime but obviously she wasn't raised as purely as it first seemed. I'll be praying for her so she can heal. From 💔 to 💜....

The whole situation is sad, and it seems like this mom needs counseling, sincerely. She is yelling at her daughter and I wonder how could this not be making things worse for their relationship? How could the daughter not be torn? In her eyes she had a great mother raising her, who loved her. And while the biological mother has a right to have feelings... to say in open court, in front of her daughter that she wants the woman to receive death.... doesn't feel right at all. A sentence of death for someone who, yes, did a terrible thing by kidnapping her... but did not beat her, neglect her, torture her or kill her and by all accounts she seems to have taken tremendous care of her... is a very extreme punishment desire. I feel bad for Kamiyah, who I can't believe isn't feeling like she is in a game of tug of war and she is the thing being tugged. Prayers for all involved.
