K&L, thanks for taking us along on your trip to Hawaii. I hope you are enjoying your trip! That’s one of the states that I haven’t visited yet. I hope that your children were able to go with you! Eat some of their honey for me!

We convert refrigerator to incubator. We prefer to keep qc in Styrofoam plates. Each cell has an individual drilled holl. No problems with early emerged queen, all cells secured and warmth.

With 86 F for a high temp and a low of 75 you don't need much of a heating source. LOL Enjoy the weather and hope you don't get sunburned like I did over there one year.

One important thing with queen breeding to think about. The drone is not just a drone. He is 100% genetic of his mother. He is a mama's boy. His dother is not just his dother. She is 50% her grandma. The drones, fathers of the swarm are the grandmas of the swarm

This video opens some questions for me as I work on my plan to start raising my own queens. The first question is, how old are these cells on the day you are installing them in the NUC?. Second question is, You are removing the queens from the NUCs that are mated and ready to sell or use elsewhere...right? Last question is, How many times can the NUC be used for repeated mating task?

3 on one side and 2 on the other is not split right down the middle. Just saying...lol. My daughter and I built a egg incubator for hatching chickens a few years back with an old cooler. It would convert to a Beekeeper incubator quite easily.

I’m starting queen rearing this year. What are you holding the cells in? I’ve seen foam holders but can’t seem to find them anywhere to buy?

I'd like to see the cell holder dimensions. I've been trying to find a good way to transport them similar to that.

What’s the purpose or benefit of using incubators as opposed to just raising the queen cells in a nuk like in your other videos

Goodday sir, I hope you are well. I want to rear queens for my own use. As we know bees produce queens when necessary. In other words the circumstances in the hive should be positive to queen rearing. If I create this enviroment in a nucleus, the bees will be prone to rear a new queen(s) Therefore they will modify a few cells into queen cells and feed them royal jellie. As you did in you're first queen rearing video. I will monitor the progress through the glass walls and when they are sealed I will have the queens I can use. How and when further on, I still have to figure out. Am I more or less correct in my way of thinking. I would think queen rearing on a commercial scale is a different kettle of fish. Therefore I will stick to queen rearing for my own use. This incubator is a good step forward. Stay safe and Godspeed. Cobus🐳
