Good beekeeping techniques go into delivering quality queens. It's the multiple little things that add up to a guy producing great ones. I caught a small handful of them in this short take. Nice job Mr. H. Phil...

This one of the BEST queen handling videos I've ever watched...in his own way...he reminds me of Bob Binney works with the bees....smooth, natural fluid movements, no wasted effort no rush. I could binge watch this guy work. Could you possibly tell how he wound up in Hawaii...perhaps he was raised there...I bet there's good story content there. Thanks for sharing Kamon.

@@kamonreynolds Kamon, do you know why? He knows one of the queen rearer's secrets. Did you guys check for eggs? How long had those new queens been mated? A cell protector would have been nice. Under most circumstances just to place the cell between the top bars would have been alright. Gamete Stool.
@Anoo
@Anoo 3 жыл бұрын
Could he have just let the bees make their own queens with supercedure cells? Probably safer, more reliable, and less time lost to put a capped queen creek in there, I suppose.

Shake the queen cell? Does a good cell feel different when shaking vs a bad cell??
@hootervillehoneybees8664
@hootervillehoneybees8664 3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can feel them rattle at that age no rattle its dead .. Im sure he candles each cell most do .. Bees will normally take down the dead cells in the cell builder ...on comb if your queen dies in the cell they will chew thru the side remove dead pupa if they remove the cell after means that queen died from virus .. If your queen hatches you will see the end chewed off perfect that means you have a virgin running around

May I ask why nurse bees weren't put in with the Queen?
@kamonreynolds
@kamonreynolds 3 жыл бұрын
you may! He ships queens like we do (just much larger quantities) with a queen only in the cage. In the shipping box their will be candy and water for about a half pound of nurse bees that are shook in. They will take care of the queens thru the cages just fine and it is faster and arguably better

Try cracking the cover a little, smoke a little, put the cover back down for a little bit. Then remove the cover. Too much smoke will irritate them as well.
