Making a Lizard Nest Box!

As someone who cares for leopard geckos with sever neurological conditions, some of Bobby’s issues look heartbreakingly familiar. He doesn’t seem neurotypical for a monitor at all, and temperature issues can cause that in large monitors so easily, especially when they are young. It’s very sad, but the good thing is, if that is his issue, he can live a great long life! He’ll never be normal and should not be bred but he’ll be normal for him, and as long as he’s eating and pooping and doing all the lizard things, he’ll be good for you. I hope he can keep doing well with some adjustments!

My suggestion before you give up would be to try a handful of different things. Scramble few eggs and crush in the shell, ground turkey as someone suggested, maybe mealworms, and if all else fails either tuna fish or small amounts of cat food ( they both smell really strong and even some of the most stubborn of animals will usually at least nibble or devour it. I agree with Kevin Duffy. Try some ground turkey or chicken. It really seems like Bobby has a neurological issue caused by a nutrient or protein deficiency. Im probably wrong. Ive been following Bobby since you got him. Im the guy making you the art doll of him. Yes Im still Working on it , I just started getting into keeping reptiles again so I took a break from making it but its almost done. Please please dont euthanize Bobby. But of coarse if he hurting or in pain. But please try the ground meats first with some added vitamin or something

Don't you think perto and petra need a more enchriching enclosure? I feel they are so social and friendly but they have a dull very pail enclosure. Would be really nice to see them get a more enriching enviourment.

With Bobby you need to do what you feel is right for him. If that means having to put him down I know you will, even though that is a very hard road to go down. You always do right by your animals.

You could put a divider in the big enclosure Lola is in, put Guaps on one side, her on the other? They'd still have enough room I reckon. That'd free one of those big spaces up. Re Bobby - poor wee dude. Getting stolen and left in the cold really did a number on him. You're right though - you can't let him suffer. I hope he pulls through but I worry for him. I just wanted to add: Often, farmers and Homesteaders say: If the injured, traumatized or sick animal eats and drinks or at least tries to, then you should NOT give up on them. It means THEY HAVE NOT GIVEN UP, and they usually KNOW more then we do. To sum it up, if they are still FIGHTING, WE FIGHT WITH THEM, HAVE THEIR BACK, DEFEND THEIR FLANK ! If they give up, we allow them to go without pain and suffering. Hope this helps ❤️

My husband is a 100% Disabled Vet and is stuck in bed, in pain, 90% of the time.. it's hard on him, so I know that the things that bring him joy, MEAN A LOT! This was why our kids wanted me to start our channel about our pet goose and other animals .. so people who just wanted to see silly cuteness, could come and have a chuckle. There have been people who genuinely find joy in Pretty Bird and our other babies and their antics & it means the world to me. I'm sure Kenan feels that way too, when he gets comments like yours. It's a good feeling to know that something we shared, helped someone during hard times. I don't know Kenan, but I assume it's the same for him. :)

We have a daughter who was in the army for 5yrs. then went to college ROTC t ok become an officer. She also was West Point Prep. One yr. And was ready to go to West Point but my health and my husband's hit our finances. So she went to a local college and worked part time plus ROTC. But 6mos.before graduation she was diagnosed with skin cancer.long story short army career was gone

Kenan in Lola and Guappo's home could you put up a temp. divider with visual barrier if needed? Then you would have your other available home. Loved seeing all the lizards and looking forward to babies. Loved Bobby since you got him. With all he has gone through time and again he's showed he's a fighter. I was wondering if you brought him inside to handle and interact with him daily that this could help stimulate his nerves and healing. I know you have the best interest of all your animals at heart. Feed Bobby ground Turkey. I know whole prey animals are better but the Turkey may be easier to eat. I’ve followed Bobby’s progression and decline. He was doing great before he was stolen. It’s heartbreaking to see him like this.

Ground turkey lacks what they need. However he could take different meat and grind it up with organs and bone meal and that would be a good option.

I don't think it's the consistency of the food that matters, bobby has issues with the brain. Some parts are probably not developed in a right way. It's the same you would expect from somthing like lead poisoning in children. He sees prey but can't reach it, because information isn't being transmitted right.

Whatever is best for Bobby. You see far more than we do. Easy for people to freak out when all we get are snippets of Bobby's existence. He went through a lot. I can't believe he's survived this long! As for the Iggies... frustrating that, after all that time, Guapo and Lola can no longer be together. I thought for sure they would end up back together after she was out of season, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

You could introduce them again first temporarily and with supervision. For example you can sit one hour watching them, then return them to their individual cages. After some time, I believe that you could keep them for longer.

Kamps looking good Kenan. But could you imagine how much better it can be with just ONE more set of hands? You do a good job with the Kamp & the animals by yourself, but with an assistant, intern, helper or something things could go a lot better a lot faster. It can never hurt to have an extra set of hands & eyes around to get a lot of things done. At least get someone for the summer to help you out & that way by the time winter rolls around you won't be so overwhelmed. Maybe you can shorten that "To Do" list a little, Ya Know?.

Definitely feed Bobby smaller meals, like pinkie mice or small fish. See if that builds him up better. If he's showing neurological signs like seizures, then you know that you are going to have to let him go over the rainbow bridge, where he can hang out with Lagatha.

Hey you know your aninals qnd you have q massive heart to see them properly cared for. And you have knowledge enough and the right friends to help you make a decision for bobbi's quality of life. Some neurological challenged herps can do well. Some just cannot cope. Bobbi has been through hell. If he needs to go then he has beaten so many odds he deserves a proper send off and not suffering. Hopefully it doesnt come to that but its wrong if he is in pain and suffering to keep him goung just because we can. Best wishes and care for him 💚

Now I haven't finished watching the video and maybe you turned it around but I'm questioning your positioning of the nesting box. Why wouldn't you put the opening facing the inside area where the lizards would be looking at the opening as opposed to looking at the back end of the box?

Bobby has been my favorite lizard at the Kamp .. love that guy and his colors look amazing. He's been through so much he deserves every opportunity and I know you'll give it to him. Do you think maybe putting him in a cage where he can be on the ground more would be better, having a lizard with Neuro issues in the air like that would make me nervous.

Honestly, when you told us Bobby was going through some issues with feeding after being found again I thought this might be the outcome. If he needs to be cared for in such a way that he can’t feed the way he’s supposed to and if he’s in pain, just end his suffering.

Would be so cool to make a big enclosure just like your buddy so you can just like him separate them ore keep them together and I love how he had a enclosed hallway. I only love to see a little aquascape system running as one system in all the enclosures. With more room like slinky with all the plants. Just be awesome, beautiful and all the reptiles in a big room with tones of options. Like gwappo and Lola if they fight its one enclosure to the side and they are happy and it's so easy to try to put them together again and try it out. The only thing I would do different then Jerry is different sized in enclosures and one aqua scape running in all the enclosures and also make it more gorgeous with plants and natural elevation options so they have everything they need and beautiful to and off course so that you can hang out with them. Maby even have a options for turtles and tor tortoises in there. Man I love your work and I can not get enough off you, your family and your animals. Keep up the amazing work and I hope to hear soon that you are making my idea on your kamp. Just hear you say Mike Stafford I'm going to build it one day. That will make my life complete haha. Most look 12x12x6 by looks of it and then the big ones look 30ft wide ect but I think he only got one or two like that then he has croc enclosure that will be big but I don't follow them do not sure

I had the same issue with a savanna monitor it’s almost as if it had a stroke and then suffered some sort of neurological issues, sadly it survived about three weeks and then died in its sleep.
