It's the regular stuff you do - feeding the animals, creating and upgrading habitats, and dealing with sick or injured animals - that makes your channel my favorite. No need for gimmicky stuff or crazy antics, just day to day care of your pets is the best content and I'm glad I found your channel all those years ago

Those tubs are the best. They look like Rubbermaid to me. I used to have one for my horses. One quick suggestion if I may. For the overflow pipe, a piece of nylon window screen siliconed over the opening might work better. It also won’t cause any rust. Love all the videos. Turtles are one of my all time favourite animals on the planet. 🐢
@Gravy652 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing with just a knee high nylon pulled over the pvc, like one does for their washing machine, to catch any lint. Though, that's when I realized, he runs the water to filter out through that pipe, so he probably wants the largest gaps he can get without endangering the animals.

The very best turtle for any aquarium without question is the odoratus! Stinkpot! They are so adorable and have so much personality in their little bitty body lol. I've had some half inch stinkpots chasing a bream in my aquarium with its mouth wide open and then the bream just takes off and the little turtle get spun away in the current lol

Having bred Eastern Long Neck turtles for 30 years (chelodina longicollis), expect to lose one or two in your indoor tub. They don’t do well inside and it retards their growth. They are sunshine loving Australian species needing the cleanest water possible when starting out with high calcium and shell grit in their water. Outdoors a must. Also they don’t mix well with other turtles and will bite off the tails of other species when hungry or curious. Also nobody calls them Snake neck. Their correct name is an Eastern Long Neck Turtle. 👍🏻

Snake necks dont seem strange to me. The local species here in south western aus is the south-western snake-necked turtle/ oblong turtle/ western long necked turtle Chelodina colliei (previously C. oblonga though some resources still seem to use that name) so thats what I'm most used to seeing. Only saw them occasionally as a kid in the local river because they tend to stay hidden, usually when they came up in the marron nets and were very grumpy about it 😆as a teen/ adult doing studies in environmental science I got to see them a bit in some of the local wetlands, if you approached quietly enough while they were out sunbasking. I've always loved them, so awesome to see them sitting in the sun on a log or swimming in the wetland shallows! Your guppies will have to be fast if they want to outswim the baby snake necks, saw one on camera get nommed haha!
