I would highly recommend replacing your current thruster physics mod with this one called "Thruster physics & Differential throttling". It adds torque from thrusters like the mod you're using right now, but it also adds the ability to use those thrusters like RCS to turn the ship, as well as a 'thrust trimming' feature that will help you avoid unwanted torque when you're weight is a little off

Something I think could've been done with the environment for this season is using the 3D nebula mod with each asteroid field to at least give an indication as to where they are as well as give an interesting feel to each of them.

While I prefer the deep tunnel in the first asteroid [which I would name "THE ABYSS", I TOTALLY LOVE the name "The IRON Base" on the second asteroid, simply because it just sounds badass too. "The Abyss" and "The Iron Base" are both cool.

gratz to Gnat for building this scenario. just my 2 Copper Pieces. I'd carefully tow that wreck back and just landing gear lock it to the roid you call home. it'll keep your salvage close once you turn it off and thus undetectable. solar tracking = that is why I like Isy's better than an CTC. 3x Rotors don't have issues with hinge collisions.

Couple thoughts/ Ideas.... Since youre a "Trouble Shooting Expert" with the mission of scouting basically the entire system. It sounds like youll be traveling ALOT. So maybe after getting set up and going you can make a "Science" Vessel as a home base and have several defense craft or even a Gunboat or something that attaches to it. So you have the big ship that warps around and all the little ships that disperse to scout, attack, collect, or mine. Then just build little outpost where ever you need and CONQUER THE GALAXY.... I mean scout... scout the system.

I love an old fashioned space scenario. Step one now that you have an outpost: drill a 30m hole adjacent to your base, build a battery in there, move your survival kit in there, add an event controller and beacon so that if the power gets sub 10% it tells you.

When you were trying to jump-start the platform, you could have just did a rotor on the base and a rotor-head on your start ship. It does not need to be welded up to transfer power! It would have been a bit simpler.

Hoping this season has waaay more combat. I loved seeing those towers take down AI NPCs in other seasons. They were action packed and very exciting. Other seasons were quite boring

You could have put a small rotor head frame on your ship and attached it to a large rotor frame on your station without having to actually build them, then attached to transfer power to your station from your ship.

I see you only have one of the many plugins turned on. Probably should explore more of those, as space just real is a plugin as well. Notable plugins that really add to the experience or are a QOL: Build Info, Build Vision, Tool Switcher, Toolbar Manager, GPS Folders and More, GPS Extended, Multigrid Projector, and Better Inventory Search. And you can counteract the realistic thrust by turning on the override on a gyro. For a mod that would help with the style of play for the series could try recon camera, just don't use it in tandem with camera panning, it's really hard to control with both on. Last thing, now if you want to change up the respawn mechanics I do have the mod Cryo Respawn out on the workshop. Okay that's it, go have fun.

You could have just placed down a rotor instead of a connector. And turn your ship into a subgrid by attaching it with a rotor part. Then you have power to your base. Similarly with fixing the solar tower. Grind out the center block and hinge part. Put a full armor block back in the center. Attach a hinge part back on to it. Then make the hinge part attach again to the hinge base. No need to rework the entire pannel.

Space engineers has nothing to do with engineering brother its more of like an ARK/MC hybrid with voxel manipulation and dynamic grids. The closest thing would be system engineering but to be honest what much is there to think about when designing something in this game? Just make sure the conveyors connect when placing stuff and just make sure that you have enough power generation and enough thrust to move and stop. Don't get me wrong I like the game but being an aerospace engineer myself I can promise you the game has zero engineering involved

@@00000005547 Well, I do, at least, appreciate that unlike other physics-based vehicular building games (Trailmakers, Scrap Mechanic, etc.), SE doesn't have any kind of 'building mode.' If you need to repair a blown-off wheel, you need to consider the logistics of placing it. You can't just lift it into air and slap another on. And, I know that doesn't equate to engineering, but it does at least require a more thoughtful approach to solve some problems.

Looking forward to see more of the season, just one thing that bugged me: Wouldn't that 'realistic thrust' thingy require an atmosphere to unbalance the vehicle? Y'know, friction and such.

Air friction is not required at all. In order to change the angular momentum (i.e. get the ship spinning), torque is required. When a force is acting off-centre on an object, e.g. an offset thruster your ship, you have a non-zero component of the force that is perpendicular to the line to the centre of mass and thus applies torque. It must be said that you can counteract this torque with another force that applies an opposite torque, e.g. when you fire some off-centre side thrusters as well and to a lesser extend using gyroscopes. I wonder why the mod Kana uses here does not utilise counter torque. I believe the mod "Thruster physics & Differential throttling" by Knsgf can do this In vanilla space engineers, thrusters cannot apply torque to the grid they are on, this is only possible to a small extend via subgrids. However, gravity generators in combination with mass blocks and several clang drives that abuse game physics are able to apply considerable torque. With air friction, non-zero net torque occurs in an object if one side to the centre of mass experiences more friction force than the other. This is one of the physical principles that enables airplane flight control.

Can I make a slight suggestion? Get the scavenger robot ASAP, they are your best source of random items early on, including other bot modules, as you probably already know though, as you have played with A.I Enabled before. Free items are always worth it.
