This man is why I keep training. He went outside JKA. He was the looses man I ever seen. I studied other styles before I studied Shotokan. They label Karate from Japan as Hard Style. Rigid Static and Stationary. And I really found that very incorrect. If you understand Shotokan or any Martial Arts. It all was fluid. Liquid. The style I studied before Shotokan are very Fluid and lots of Movement. Can be static. But the focus is movement. Striking from anywhere. The real reason why I started studying Shotokan was a system of movement. A very basic structure that has very strong powerful foundation. Which is where all of what we do comes from. Balance, Centered. Grounded. I call it The Zen of Movement. The beauty behind this. That Martial Arts is Fluid. And Static. The Yin and the Yang. Why I’m glad I studied both Chinese and Japanese Style of Combat. I would say not much different. Like The Lion Stance, or The Bow Stance. Or The Zenkutsu Dachi. Front Stance. Same stance. Oss.
