Awesome tip sir! When I worked at the dealership I had to make a mix of ammonia and water. Found that was the strongest stuff to kill the silicone they used. Until now. Never thought to use the water base wet bed for that!

@kandyman53152 жыл бұрын

Great video and tip! Also I know this was asked but to clarify…. I get your using a mix of water and solvent but in your opinion is specifically the water clear base the secret? I know in another comment you mentioned you can use solvent clear base but I thought in the video you said that water specifically is what seals the possible silicon contaminants but towards the end it sounded like solvent clear base works just as good?Lastly again I know it was mentioned in a comment but as long as it is flashed you can spray water clear base and put solvent base over it no problem? I mean I know with ppg envirobase its all water and the clear is solvent so seems ok? Thanks

@@MartinMora92 i did kind of…. I am still trying to rule out issues and or possible causes with my system and process. I decided to go to an electric 6 inch sander because my theory is even though I dont religiously oil my sander it has an exhaust and was spitting oil on anything I sanded and even with waterborne wipe, wax and grease wipe and alcohol wipe still had issues. After I watched this video I painted some four wheeler plastics, properly cleaned and wiped down ect, i have a high end inflatable but didnt want to put it up so just sprayed in the garage and of course was getting fisheyes in the paint stage even! I was going matte clear and didnt want to have issues so I ended up using PPG T491 tinted clear waterbase as a wet bed which looking back I couldvhave used PPG T490 and by my suprise it worked perfectly! I was super happy but it is an extra added cost for every job not to mention what the life expectancy would be spraying over waterborne with solvent on top of the fact it was different brand paints but in short yup worked for me! Oh and I tried the solvent clear base on another job that didnt work for me so it appears specifically the waterborne clear base/wetbed is the secret.

@@JustArandomDude11c i use fish eye eliminator on everything even on primer, and on my first coat of everything is always light, My first coat of clear is always reduced 10% and misted on like adhesion promoter then i let flash then i go as normal Helps I spray next to mechanics so i do alot of thngs to get it done

@@MartinMora92 Nice! Im freaked out to use fisheye eliminator because its always been a myth that if you use it you have to use it forever atleast in that spray gun and I know my luck if I finally used it I would still get them lmao but good to know it works what brand fisheye are you using??

@@JustArandomDude11c no thats not true just rinse it off with some reducer after your clean up with lacquer thinner, i use it at.home all the time and take my gun to work everyday (professional shop) and we dont use that over there and i never had a problem, i usually do 1 cap full on everything I use transtar never had a problem, thats all myth, its made for a reason bro, keep it around and if u get some on first coat theb just add some to clear for the second coat, been doing it for.yours, and your talking to someone who sprays in a dirty shop next to mechanics 15 feet away with no spray booth just a box fan and wet the floor w dawn before painting, that kinda guy Paint 4 cars a week there as my side shop
