What a groove ! Yoyoka !! … the one and only … well and truly in the pocket. Great stuff. Really. I would rather watch and listen to Yoyoka than any other drummer. Precision; timing; power; flare … it’s all there. Right now she is Peerless and I expect it will remain that way.

@Glen.Black.Күн бұрын
@@Aclimade Indeed, that is the western way! All show and little go! And then thinking they are the greatest. If you haven't watched Japanese female drummers, they for the most part, are totally the opposite. They perform the hardest songs with the smoothest and least frantic movements (efficient). All go and little show. Then always say "I'll try to do better next time.", and them do. Never think they are great. always think they can try harder and do better. Try Lovebites, BandMaid and Nemophila (if you don't know of them already) among many other Japanese all female bands. Their talent is imply unbelievable. YOYOKA was asked once in an interview what she thinks about while she is drumming. Response: "Sometimes I'm thinking about what's for dinner." I've been to dinner with her and that girl loves to eat so I believe her! She cracks me up.

Just one little thing is missing. Since Simon Phillips was the original drummer on this song, it would be great if she finished with the crossover from the drum battle with Simon, from a few months ago. The one that left Simon astonished, when he said he's gonna steal that. :) Like a hidden message to him.

I used Chatgpt to find out what her shirt said. The answer: The phrase on Yoyoka's shirt refers to the famous quote by Walt Whitman: "I am large, I contain multitudes." It's from Whitman's poem "Song of Myself" in Leaves of Grass. It celebrates the complexity and diversity within an individual. If you'd like, I can help you analyze the meaning or significance of this quote! On that note, WELL PLAYED!!!
