Fantastic video! Thank you so much for the details and all the time and effort you put forth I'm putting this together! I have 1 question: once the paints are mixed in the bottles, what's their shelf life? I have some that are coming up on 2 years in the bottle. Would those still be ok to use?

Thanks Kanella for the update! I started with your ratio and tweaked it to what works for me, on the Liqutex Basics type brands. I just watched the whole video again on the 3 Floetrols and I realised something I didn’t before. If Aussie Floetrol sounds like water when you shake it then it is a bad batch. They change it for a good one and they should because the size I buy is $69.00 and I cannot afford to throw that much money away. When you shake it you should get a glugging sound, I don’t think glugging is a word but that is the sound. It is not thick still but not like water. It made me laugh because the gold paint you used, 24K, you mixed exactly as a cell activator.

Loved this video - really useful even though viewing in UK two years after you made it. Am dog sitting at friend’s house next week so will take supply of paint, Owatrol, and distilled water (our tap water is too hard) to fill the plastic squeezy bottles I bought from Amazon using your method. Usually work in fluid oz but will follow your measurements in grams religiously! Then I will be able to create the lovely even lines rather than blobby ones.

Pebeo is designed in France and made in China. Atelier is Australian and it is good and affordable. Mont Marte I buy for kids to use only. Liquitex is made in France. It is one of the most highly pigmented paint you can find. The brands that cost a lot and people love don’t always make them better. Jo Sonja I never pay more that $6.00 a tube and it is one of the best. Cost and brand names have nothing to do with it. Read any Golden tube or bottle, the first one I got was when I couldn’t find a fluorescent pink. It is horrible but it say on the side that it is a Carcinogenic. Don’t breathe it or get it on your skin. I have had a paint brush in my hand since I was 11. Earlier than that but my art took off at 11, I was the only person at my high school who had two paintings chosen to go on display in a gallery in Sydney. You can only judge paints that you use yourself.

Since you are using weight in grams for your ratios and the paints have differing densities how do you adjust for this factor. Can you tell us what the approximate volume of the resulting mixture in the application bottle after mixing? It appears like the floetrol at 80 g takes up about half the volume, but when you add the paint color it obscures the volume level. Would appreciate your comment on this.
@KanellaCiracoArtАй бұрын
This is why different paint brands have different ratios. Depending on the brand of paint I add more or less paint to the floetrol. Same with the water. Unfortunately I don’t know what the volume of the bottle is
