I Built a Robot Arm Oil Pump for Unlimited Gas in Nomad Survival!

In this episode we are back in Nomad survival with the objective of building a proper oil pump system! Fuel has been a major problem and today we're going to solve it.

If the train base gets long enough to be able to make a circle, then I think you should amend the farm rule to allow for you to farm anywhere you want as long as you surround it with the base. Like a wagon train circle. Could make for some interesting base defense missions during crop raids. Maybe some spud gun defense towers to help.

A shorter wheelbase will really help your turning radius, as will wiring your rear wheels to steer opposite of your fronts

By the way, you can completely dodge the haybot's sweeping attacks by jumping and backing away. The attack where the haybot lunges his pitchfork forward can also be avoided, but at a higher degree of skill. I learned this from a guide in the Steam workshop.

When you got the gas tank on, put a small chest next to it with spare fuel. It's just a comfort of life feature to have some spare fuel near the tank.

I think it may be worth making a sensor for the back of your main car that detects if the trailer is attached and then have it tied to a light on the front so if you see the light change you know you got disconnected this way you dont have to spin the camera around to check.

If you want to lock the car in place one solution I've seen is using a vacuum pump to jam some bricks into the ground, surrounded by a sleeve. Dunno if that'd be acceptable within your nomad rules, but I'd say it is.

Would you use the robot arm for the packing station deliveries as well? I imagine trying to park the train in line with the loading chutes would be a challenge.

too bad we cant export oil in scrap. within 1 minute on foot from mechanic station i have 5 oil nodes. chemical pond. cotton and burnt forest. so easy its boring XD actually thinking of starting a new map just to add a little bit of challenge

You *can* get a fast controller engine by stacking a couple of bearings or building custom drive wheels (or both) but the trade off there is, it gets less precise as it gets faster. Making a system to lock the rotation as soon as you stop the inputs can be done but adds a pile of complexity to it.

@@twigiee6019 It's pretty feasible with two, or even three, particularly if you have another free-spinning bearing to support things from the other side. I've run some pretty big slabs of concrete-3 stuff with that. But I think gas engines are the best solution for what he's doing; at two stacks of gas per episode that one chest he just filled will last him fifteen videos before a refuel.

You should make a system of observer blocks and pistons in between each trailer, that triggers a tote bot head, to tell you if any of your trailers are disconnected. Explanation: Trailer1 (the very back car/trailer) Trailer2 ( the middle car/trailer) Front car( the front/ motor car) Put a distance sensor on the back of trailer2 looking at the front of trailer1. Then put a piston on the front of trailer2, so that it can poke out tords the front car. Now put a distance sensor connected to a tote bot head on the front car. So now you have a chain of pistons and distance sensors in between each car. If it is set up correctly, then when one trailer gets disconnected, it will cos a domino effect and set of the tot bot head.(you might need to put some nor logic) and boom you have a trailer disconnection warning system!

The "Large Chemical Plant" (water treatment facility) Is the Nomad's best friend.. After crafting a few large explosives to off the one red guy; it's loot is a bit better than average towers, and all the tote bot only carnage yields alot of circuits you would otherwise get from farming a bunch.

Man you trained those bots well... :P I think you should be able to craft component kits. Make it expensive like 5 circuit boards, 3 metal 2 and maybe 3 chemicals and a glow poop just for fun.. Things that early game are doable but hard, but late game is very easy. Really I have no problems. You are grinding for metal, wax, coal, oil, water... and plants. Also I use the same pump for oil, water, and produce so I put it on the back corner and attach it to the crafting chain... just like the refinery. I have only 6 chests in my nomad build.

next? you can make the carts wheels flip on their sides and in the future lift the carts a bit as a hand break. you can make an auto deploy garden and defense cart, that you can detach and leave it with the plants. you can make a swiss army knife type of robot arm for mining... lots of potential

Underwater operation is so awful I made a specific vehicle just to drive around on the seafloor for glue clams. It's still not great since you have to get out to actually harvest them, but it's still significantly faster than swimming and you use much less stamina. Plus a lot more storage and you can see where you're going better.

I've got a base on top of a big rock with farmable land right next to an oil pond, the bots spawn below me and cant reach my vehicles or my base at all so I don't have to worry about raids and I have unlimited oil!

Gathering component kits doesn't bother me too much. I enjoy raiding the structures and looting the chests (where you can get a lot of Fuel tbh) so they're plentiful. It's clams/glue that irritates me. I was so happy when they brought in oil ponds so we didn't have to dive for oil anymore but we still have to for the clams. You can't even get glue from the loot boxes so that needs to change. I also think that TapeBots should drop a stack of 5 glue when you kill them (adhesive for the tape). They're an awkward bot and should give a better reward than an occasional battery.

Like I said before, if you are not going to make the rear wheels steer, add a piston engine to each rear wheel and also have gas engines, so the piston engines give a bit of assistance. Should work so long as you don't wanna go ludicrous speeds.

I know your not aiming for a controller specific drive system but is it possible to augment your engine with a controller? So have an extra bearing on your main drive wheels and you can flip a switch to give a small amount of free extra boost. Would be great on open straights and steep hills. And on the off chance you run out of gas, from here on, you could at least crawl the vehicle around.

Heh kan tip for your trailer add a 3x3 bar from the top of your truck over the trailer hitch so when it jumps or jack knifes then it’s impossible to come out, I tested it in creative and I jumped and jumped it but the hitch never came out

I'm running my own nomad game and, I've skipped the fuel for now, and I'm running controller x2 for forward momentum. I've got 2 controllers both spinning 4 bearings 2 per wheel forward.

I'm pretty sure that the bots have durability threshold beyond which they will have 0% chance of breaking the block. Not sure if that's still the case but most bots (excluding explosive tape bots and red guys) used to completely ignore metal 3 if there wasn't anything less durable behind it.
