Hey everyone back with Railroads Online! Today Hyce and I are delivering our largest train yet and since it is mostly flat ground we decided to put the smallest engine to the test! Can this tiny little 0-4-0 pull 23 fully loaded cars?
Check out Hyce here: / @hyce777

The wire frame plow is actually a cowcatcher. They were beginning to go out of style by the 1890s which is why you see them on older locos in-game. The geared engines and the switchers all have something that became dominant later on, which is called a d Drawhead. This is the flat front that has a little board that you can stand on. A "pilot" from what i know id actually kind of a mish-mash between the two. (Think the nickel plate road 576) But yea, personally i like Drawheads more, but if you ever see a pic of a geared engine with a cowcatcher. Its so NEAT lookin'.

Fun trick i found is that if you are quick enough when a crane loads its last pack on a car if you can move forward quick enough to get another empty car under it before it meets its resting point the crane will keep loading on the new car too

As far as I know as an experienced mechanic, basically, modern locomotives have 3 types of anti slip systems, 2 types are modern while 1 is old but still present and "modernized": 1. Old system use sanding equipment for traction control. When the system detects that the wheels are slipping, it automatically applies sand to the rails in front of the driving wheels to increase their grip. The sanding equipment is usually controlled automatically by a computer system that monitors the speed and torque of the locomotive's wheels. This system is still in use on some diesel locomotives. 2. Wheel Slip Protection (WSP) system. Is an advanced technology used in modern diesel locomotives to improve traction and prevent wheel slip. The system uses sensors to detect the rotational speed of the locomotive's wheels, and when it detects a loss of traction, it automatically adjusts the throttle and braking systems to help maintain traction. When the system detects wheel slip, it first reduces the power delivery to the slipping wheels, then applies the brakes to those wheels. At the same time, the system increases power delivery to the wheels that are still gripping the rails to maintain traction. This process is repeated continuously to keep the locomotive moving smoothly and safely. The system also has a failsafe mechanism to prevent the locomotive from stalling. If the system detects that the wheels are slipping too much and that the locomotive is not making progress, it will gradually reduce the power to all wheels to prevent the locomotive from stalling. 3. Distributed Power (DP) system. Is another advanced technology used in modern diesel locomotives. This system uses a combination of communication systems, computerized controls, and power distribution to improve traction and control of the locomotive. In a DP system, a locomotive is equipped with on-board computers and communication systems that allow it to communicate with other locomotives in the train. This allows the train to be controlled as a single unit, with each locomotive providing the necessary power to move the train. The system also includes a power distribution system that allows the locomotives to distribute power to the driving wheels more efficiently. The power distribution system includes multiple generators and inverters, which work together to ensure that the locomotives are always providing the optimal amount of power to the wheels. The system also includes a WSP system, which helps to prevent wheel slip and maintain traction. The WSP system in a DP system works similarly to the WSP system in a conventional locomotive, detecting wheel slip and adjusting power delivery to maintain traction. Hope this explanation helps a little about anti slip systems Sorry if my English is not good, it is not my native language. Keep up great content and channel kAN

So I've been waiting for you to post this, and Hyce is probably going to want to kill me for telling you this but I suggested doing the 8 Shays and calling the engine chain the 'Shaycler' (Sh-hyce-ler) and making it have one letter per engine so you can't bin it or it gets all disorganized. Even I admit that it's a terrible idea, but by god I want to see that going down switchback mountain. The chaos would be beautiful

This game has a lot of potential! Especially with it beeing upgraded to UE5, it has so much to offer it just takes a lot of time. I am referring to not only anything graphical but also all these simulation and physics related features. I've been "playing around" with UE5 (currently with 5.2) for my engineering work and there are a lot of applications, making it also great to implement physics and engineering based concepts into UE5 and UE5 developed games (as long as the developer allows it ofcourse)

On flat ground, tractive effort must only overcome the resting resistance of the train. On a positive slope, weight enters the equation as the greater factor.

You should get a class 70 for the 10%. They drastically reduced the weight of the tender at some point and now it can pull almost 50k lbs up a 10% grade. The new ET&WNC engine, despite being supposedly lighter (I think its actually a little bit heavier) and a bit more powerful has such a heavy tender that it can only pull about half as much. I ran a test and the C70 pulled 1 of the new tanker cars and 2 cordwood cars (all empty), 49350lbs total. The ET&WNC couln't even handle the tanker car alone, until I swapped tenders and then it could!. It did struggle more than the C70 even with the lighter tender, which is why I think it is not 2k lbs lighter, but 2k lbs heavier instead. The new one does have the advertised tractive effort though, it won the tug of war.

#21 needs to be the Tenmile locomotive… not only does the wheel setup and Johnson bar / reverser gear setup look like the designer was completely hammered when he walked into the blueprint office, you can add antlers to the headlight… which is like wearing a lampshade at this point. It SCREAMS “I am #21 Kenosha!!!” If I knew how to do the money thing (I’m not computer savvy, sorry) I’d send you $21 for it if you’d do it! xD (If you or someone could leave a response on how to, I’ll gladly leave a second message with it on that… that’s what’s called a “super thank” or something, I think? It locks me into $1.99, $4.99, $9.99, or $49.99 in blue… yet I see people do even numbers all the time and it’s yellow? Can anyone tell me how to put in a specific number, please?) $21 for #21 to be the Tenmile! xD

Interesting thing about steam and diesel/electrics, both have max torque at zero rpm. The torque curve drops once you are moving but now you have inertia to help keep things moving along.

@Khan Gaming the hump yard for both empties and loaded cars. Very ideal when you need a lot of wood by now for the industry's that need wood, or ore, coal, tools, pipes, n oil With a hump yard you can have 1 side to store your empties (1 track per rolling stock) and the other for making your trains (1 track for each industry).

Yo, Khan, you always upload your video after Hyce uploads his. Your literally a day behind schedule, further behind then a Shay, which, getting to that, you're #13 locomotive should be a Shay, because its so slow, and it should be named Sluggard. Also, do you think there should be an Update in Railroads online where there is more than one player model? Like, their should be a manager player skin, the driver & firemen skin, the worker skin, and more.

Question: Doesnt a wheel slip when it passes over the point of a switch since the wheel is in the air for a brief moment? Or is that time frame just too small for that to happen?
@ValentineC137
@ValentineC137 Жыл бұрын
The wheel is mechanically linked to the other powered wheels on the same side, and all those wheels share a drive axel with the wheels on the opposite side. It would only slip if that single wheel losing traction would be enough of a change for the entire powertrain to slip

A man obsessed with trains finally steals one and immediately crashes it, killing several people... At the trial, the man is found guilty of multiple murders and sentenced to death. Before he faces his sentence, he's offered a last meal, and asks for a single banana, which is given to him. The next day, he's led to the electric chair. They strap him in, pull the switch, and... nothing happens. There's never been a failure before. But because you cannot punish a person twice for the same crime, the court is forced to let him go free. Within a week's time, naturally, the man, who is obsessed with trains, goes and steals another one. He doesn't care that he can't drive it or that he failed catastrophically before; he is obsessed with trains and his only desire is to operate one. As before, he crashes it, and kills several people. Again, he stands trial, and again, he is sentenced to death, showing no remorse, only delight that he got to operate the train. His last meal request is a single banana. When he goes to the chair, the executioner pulls the switch, but nothing happens. He goes free again. The train-obsessed maniac, once more on the loose, wastes no time in hijacking a train and crashing it. His trial is speedy, because this has already happened twice, and he is sentenced to death. They ask him what he'd like for his last meal. "A single banana," he says. "Oh, no you don't. We're on to you, now. We know all about your little banana trick, and you're not escaping this time!" The guards refuse his request, and instead serve him a standard last meal of steak, potatoes, and berry cobbler. The next morning they strap him into the electric chair, pull the switch, and... nothing happens. "Did you give him the banana?" demands the head guard. "No, sir! He asked for the banana but we didn't give it to him, we swear!" says one of the guards. Turns out the banana had nothing to do with anything. He was just a really bad conductor.
