I will never forget this game. I was lucky to be there. A true test match. The crowd was totally involved and Langlands was sensational.

Remember those days when you got knocked unconscious the strapper used to tun on with the "magic sponge".

Great game. Really interesting mix of players in the Australian team; Cronin playing alongside Fulton and Tim Pickup pairing with Tom Raudonikus. Thanks for the upload, real, p[roper rugby league. John Gray kicked the life out of that ball and changed the face of the game in his time.

Englishman here. It was a frank and honest exchange of views on a rugby field….in a different age. Would have loved to have a beer with these players in the lounge afterwards…….strong, hard men.

Agreed. Real men. You can see players being absolutely smashed in the body by a 17 stone piece of muscle running at great spot and they don’t even blink. Then watch a game of modern football and a player can be gentle touched on the leg by an opponent’s swinging leg and he screams like a five year old.

John Gray played union for us at Loughborough Colleges in the late sixties along with fellow internationals Keith Fielding and Les Sheard.

I'm an Aussie and give full credit to the poms in this test series, they had players unavailable due to the international transfer ban and pushed Australia within 4 points of an away ashes victory.

Non of these players would lay on the ground holding their necks looking at the ref for a penalty, tough as they come, not like the sooks playing today.

yes, because they'd have their necks snapped in half and be dead. The modern player is bigger faster stronger in every possible capacity. These guys from the 70's would have their bones exploded if they came in contact with them. are you a old man bot? designed to say 'back in my day....'

I wish someone could colourise this video. Trying to watch John Grays goal kicks would stand out much better. I was at this game as a 12 year old and still remember everyone laughing at this " WEIRD" kicking style from This Bloody pom. He soon shut everyone up. And of course now the old toe bashers are the weird ones.BTW, this was the day when I experienced the real ugly aussie. I was sitting on the railing of the shelters at the back of the hill. Watching people piss in beer cans and then throw them at anyone with a union jack flag, yep it was an eye opener.

07:50 the 9 for England blatantly and viciously elbowed Pickup. Grub. Pickup prob played on with a fractured jaw, what he copped was brutal.

Hard to imagine that this is nearly 50 years ago. More like a good game of "rugger". Some of it none too pretty perhaps but good to watch and entertaining. Shouldn't say it but perhaps today's league is a bit too plastic by comparison.

I am English thanks very much for this. Australia have had some great half backs in the last forty years but none better than Bobby Fulton. Do you have the first and second tests. Thanks again for the upload.

Did Cronin ever run with ball in this game. I guess he was the new kid.

2 minutes from halftime, Australian Fulton whacks the English player with a swiping punch, connects to the side of the head and knocks him out, in a tackle. He is penalised by the Referee. No sin bin....No send off.....😂

Tim Pickup knocked out, trainer washes his face with a washer until he comes to, hauls him to his feet and he staggers around for a while. Unfortunately no knowledge of CTE and concussion management in those days. It's not surprising that so many of these guys from this era developed dementia at an early age

This is when MEN WERE MEN and players were humble and played the game because they loved the game not tattooed up and think they can play. Rugby League lost it's appeal a long time ago.
