Great Britain was yet to hit their peek. 2 years later, the 1990 Kangaroo Tour was when they did in my opinion. They broke new ground. It was some of the best football I have ever seen played from a British team against the Aussies.Pushing the Kangaroos to find their very best throughout the whole 3 tests. It was champagne football from both sides.Test football was alive and healthy between these 2 teams. It really was.Every single play had the ability to impact the result of any given game. That's how intense it was. It had me setting my alarm at 1am in anticipation to get up and watch all 3 tests until 3 in the morning, then go to school that day.It was fever pitch. When Big Mal scored that try at Old Trafford off a Ricky Stuart break that kept the the series alive after the defeat in the first test,I thought I'd died and gone to rugby league heaven.I'm sure we woke the neighbours. We woke Mum and my sisters that's fore sure!!!

I remember 3 things from those days. The French refs were laughable, the Aussies were unbeatable, and the English were grubs.

GB couldn;t beat Australia playing Rugby League so resorted to thuggery. The majority of their tackles were head high. Andy Gregory was the worst offender. As a human being, he is a disgrace.

The grub Andy Gregory finished the test in the sun bin, that is where he should have started the test and stayed there. Just the lowest form of scum.

Got to laugh at Fatty's left hook to Mike Gregory in the first half. That punch wouldn't have hurt a fly, yet Gregory went down like he'd been knocked out by Mike Tyson lol

Most players were smart enough not to rile up Backo. Why on earth would you kick him? I also remember sterling’s reaction after Backo scored. Looked pretty happy to have him on the same side for a change haha.

The highlight was Sam Backo putting Offiah over the sideline on a long break !! The big bloke could move.

The tackle involving Powell and Mike Gregory both died at relatively young ages

The time allowed for try-conversion kicks is ridiculous. Should be 30 seconds max. QLD must have won the State of Origin series that year to get a majority of Kangaroos in the Australian team.

C'mon Rob, that was the game back then, it was tough, rough, it was brutal, it was played by Man and a few thugs. Ellery Hanley found that out the hard way in 88 GF.
