Wow. Stiff arms , coathanger tackles, old style scrums with the hooker flat on his back and the ref misses the loose arm. Gotta say even though I'm a Manly supporter Ray Price was brilliant.

Gee, RL has evolved into a quite different ball game. Still, it is"the greatest game of all" - in my opinion.Just compare any match today in the NRL today (2023), and you may agree. I was in awe of these players. Still remember having a beer at Mick Cronin's (immaculately kept) pub in Gerringong. Many players had other jobs in those days.Pre State of Origin. The beginning of Australian dominance was post-Origin. Coincidence? I think not. Anyway, thank you for posting. Much appreciated.

1978 was the start of our long running dominance of the game at Test level. In the first two tests they were competitive, including tuning us up in the Second, but even with dodgy home side refereeing, the Third Test was a dead set spanking and set the tone for the next 40 years. The Australian game modernized and turned professional while the British game stagnated.

Thank you for adding these 3 tests - I was v familiar with the second test which in the UK we refer to as the "dads army" test as the GB players were fairly mature to say the least. I think you could say this was the last time the teams might have been seen to be of a similar standard. By 1982 of course the aussies had moved far far ahead of GB RL.

That might be worth a few pounds or dollars on ebay. And easy enough to ship. If sell, sell it to what you know would be a good or suitable home for it. Not to me. I wouldn't want the friggin' thing. And, a 1978 Kangaroo tour jersey goes for $ 500.00 on ebay, I believe. Whether or not it was worn in Tests is another thing.

@@docgonzales weren't they dreadful. Bounced around like a broken peanut. Try using the Ballymore ball in the wet . Like passing a heavy boulder. The frogs never beat us the ref did ,where are you getting your info from man? I don't care what decade your talking about ,I stipulated a fact given to me by Bernie Purcell, the frog in a match late 60s ran out of the field of play ,then around the Aussie bench ,back on the field then putting the ball down in the corner .Awarded a try .Dont worry about Darcy he was nothing compared to those grubs in France. Penalty count 30. 3 and you want to argue with me .Tell me how can a team win with a count like that .the pots where why we were there for anyway ,not so much the French as everyone knew the players were dogs ,king hitting players then running away eye gauging as well .poms didn't run they were tough .

Before the State of Origin matches NSW alwways thrashed Queensland, problem was that half the NSW players were Queensland playing in NSW club games. Fulton was a Queenslander and in one game in Brisbane he was brilliant to such an extent the Queensland crowd cheered him. When the State of Origin games commenced if any Queenslander who played in NSW or Victoria , and he was good enough, he was selected for the Queensland team and this started the run of Queensland victories. The very first game played under the new rules Queensland won and started to dominate NSW teams, so you would have team mates on opposing sides. Good example was Cronin and Beatson who both played for Parramatta were on opposite sides and the story goes that Beatson hammered his team mate Cronin. These games are far more intense than any test games
