Closest towns of Mt kanlaon is bago, san carlos, murcia, and la castellana in bacolod city which is the capital city of negros occidental in visayas island. Middle island of the Philippines. 3 main islands are Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Praying here. Thank u for good video

Seeing that eruption is scary! Living in Cebu City I get text alerts almost every day about Kanlaon volcano. Hopefully the winds aren't towards Cebu.

Ta - Guy - Tie is how the locals pronounce Tagaytay. A local news said the winds were blowing the volcanic smoke westwards towards Negros Occidental.

I lived near Mt St Helens that erupted 1980 in Washington state USA. This isn't as big, but it's still pretty impressive. I fish a Tournament out of San Carlos city, which is near the volcano . They are safe so far

Kanlaon volcano did NOT have a major eruption. The volcano has been showing some minor emissions from vents and a series of earthquakes for some time recently. It did have a small eruption for a few hours with some pyroclastic emissions which has now stopped. For reference a major eruption of this volcano would be comparable to the Vesuvius eruption mentioned in this video. It would cause major pyroclastic flows out across the island travelling at 600 to 700 kph these flows are made of ash and rocks and super heated gas at a temperature of between 800 to 1500°C . As you can imagine this would cause an extremely large amount of damage to anything down hill of the volcano within many kilometres of the mountain.
