Totally blown away by the absolute skill and dexterity of the tradesman./More of such You Tubes should be made available to educate the populi why skilled repairs cost what they do. As a retired tradesman myself [electrician ] I have nothing but complete admiration for this person. I am now ready for what my local garage [a very good one I would add] is about to advise me for the gearbox/clutch etc work.

The issue is that if your using axle stands. It's getting enough bend in your arms to lift it depending how high the stands are. Or lifting it from above but then you struggle to line up the splines then fingers get tired. I ended up lifting it up above then get someone with a jack to take the weight so then it can be lined up and pushed back on with ease 🙂

Fantastic video, thanks. 2 week wait to spend between £4-600 on a new clutch and I did this yesterday myself for £80! Sore as hell this morning and you made that refit of the gearbox look much easier that it looks!! Strapping the heavy end up to the battery tray area and having a family member take the slack made it slightly more bearable but really happy I tackled it. Thanks so much. ❤

After watching this i might have a go at changing my gearbox when the diff bearings finally go 🙈
@GrandePunto8V10 ай бұрын
You could replace the differential only, laying under the car. But it's inconvenient (cleaning, using adhesives etc. to install the diff cover/housing back in place). Diff is a separate part, obtainable (used good condition). No need to throw away whole gearbox. Before the "bearings go", you can try to adjust pre-load, there is a washer/spacer under the short axle seal housing (4 bolts holding it). Range 2,00 - 3,00 mm if I remember right. Steps 0,10 mm. Install next size bigger (thicker). Don't wait until something really "pops" (then yes, you will be forced to replace entire gearbox). General tip: don't start the engine without axles installed. Differential parts ("gears") can pop out and lock the diff = you will blow the gearbox apart.
