Thank you so much - gave me the confidence to do my 2004 1.2 Panda's clutch:) Donation sent:) If you're doing it yourself, I'd recommend checking the input shaft for play - the bearing is known to wear out on this gearbox, and could cause it to leak oil into the bellhousing. My clutch was slipping because of oil contamination - rear main seal and input shaft seal were both leaking.

Thanks for the feedback and the donation. Very much appreciated.
@Dave5843-d9m3 жыл бұрын
The alloy lump in the clutch hydraulic line is a QD coupling. If it separates, you can reconnect without needing to bleed the clutch hydraulics. The gearbox input shaft seal is a common problem. Even when the bearing tests ok for lateral play it’s unlikely to last the (normal) life of a new clutch. Check the old bearing placement on its shaft with a feeler gauge and fit the new bearing to same dimension.

Excellent video and a big help. Thanks. I especially like how you were able to move the gearbox away from the engine but not actually drop it off the car. Would this work on the 6 speed gearbox? My experience with (UK) Fiat Panda clutches is the hydraulic master and slave are often past their best by the time the clutch is worn out. The master cyl sucks air through the seals but cannot be repaired. The easiest solution is to replace the whole system. Both cylinders are supplied with pipes and pre-filled with fluid so it's a plug and play job.

Since view weeks the car starts shaking when been acelerated, especially in bends. This immediately stops, when the clutch pedal is applied. @@duke9620 Hi! Well, let me tell you it ain’t easy... manual says you need to remove the subframe in order to be able to get the gearbox out. Because as you have encountered at this point, whenever you try to pull it down you’ll be stuck with the frame... so in order to get it out without removing the subframe I have removed the rad support braces (which I assume you did too) and lowered the engine on the point of junction with the gearbox, then pull the box to release it from the engine and wiggle the gearbox a lot to get it out... its just a matter of patience and working your way out moving the engine up and down and playing with the gearbox in order to get it out. It ain’t easy but it’s possible. Bare in mind that putting it in would be as frustrating as taking it out. Hope this helps!

Put the nuts and bolts in numbered bags (by section), and maybe add a note where they are from. So, eg. bag #1: "Wheels" bag #2: "Lower control arm", bag #3: "Transmission mount" etc. Then when you are done, just go in reverse order. This way nothing will be forgotten, and you will not mix up eg. wheel bolts with some other bolt that is almost identical.

@@SuperBlue975 I just bought a clutch kit with release bearing from Autozone for about $200, went ahead and bought the new pressure plate bolts from them too. I was quoted as needing a new flywheel too. I found the flywheel and the slave cylinder at partsgeek when the dealership said the flywheel was on back order. I have started the process now and hoping to finish pulling the bolts from the tranny today so I can finally rip out the old parts. My son blew the clutch out, for the second time now, and so he gave the car to me. This video has been paused and played, rewinded and played, and so far it is working. I did manage to pull the axle out just like the video showed, but it had a lot less give on mine, not sure if that is something to do with the US specs for it or not. Maybe I just didn't know fully how to maneuver it too. I found all my parts for about $500 and the shop quoted over $2,000 for repairs so I figured I would try it on my own. Best of luck to you.

Kevin-Albert Williams I left the motor trade 23 years ago but I still keep my hand in🤚 that Punto your working on there amazing they haven’t changed a whole lot over the years... they replaced the gear linkages with cables that’s the only real change apart from other obvious things. The fiat punto was only on the market about a year when I left it came out in 1994 I done a few clutches on warranty no surprise there from fiat.. one of the mechanics timed me taking the gearbox out of a punto I done it in 19 minutes flat not blowing my hole don’t get me wrong 👍 We never took out the drive shafts we used to just cut the clip on the inner drive boot break the bottom ball joint and spin the shaft around out of the way and also the track rod end take that off too you had no resistance then.!
