For anyone wondering where the samples are from: „Feuertaufe“ starts with a speech by Kaiser Wilhelm II: „An das deutsche Volk!“. „Schlacht bei Tannenberg“ and „Understandsangst“ contain samples from a speech by Paul von Hindenburg („Soldaten der 8. Armee! Die vieltägigen Kämpfe auf den weiten Gefilden zwischen Allenstein und Neidenburg sind beendet.“), recorded in 1916.

Helping someone out who doesn't speak proper English - say a tourist? Understanding things created someplace on this planet by someone who doesn't speak English? Getting to know other cultures not only by third party tellings but by directly interacting with one of the most important things of that culture? Also mankind has pretty much stopped biological evolution because luckily we carry everyone with us that wouldn't make it without society (old ones, poor ones, people with disabilities etc.) so we need to evolve in a different way. And that way is by passing knowledge down from generation to generation. The more knowledge you gather in life and pass on to the younger ones the more successfull you are as a human being. This and Minenwerfer's "Alpenpässe", both phenomenal
@vassilismoschou59643 жыл бұрын
Dude, help me out on this one. Kanonenfieber is obviously anti-war and much respect for that. What's the case with Minenwerfer? I can't really locate any clear ideological stance on their part.

@@vassilismoschou5964 hmmm, i can't really tell you anything about them! I just know they are a band from the United States. Haven't heard all their records, yet and i assume they just chose war themes to write about. Alpenpässe is not even about ww2, so i hope that helps

@alexandrucraciun69783 жыл бұрын
@@vassilismoschou5964 If you read their lyrics, in case of Minenwerfer it is quite a clear anti-war message in most of their songs. They specifically describe the suffering, the death and the misery that war creates, there is no glorification as far as I am concerned. You get lyrics like this: Frozen, starving In fields of ice This barren trench Altar of sacrifice Holding position In oceans of white My hands go numb From the frostbite Man the machinegun Against the next wave Snowblind and shivering Send them to the grave Blood of these men Spills on the land Fruitless offensives From frontline command Perched on the watchtower I see their advance Through deep snow Without a chance Feeding the belt Round after round Another regiment Savagely gunned down The story of war Blood and revenge Just like the winter Will never end Which are clearly anti-war, considering how they describe it. Sure, you get for example a song like Cloaked in Silence, which describes the perspective of an Italian sniper motivated to kill as many enemies as he can, for the Austrians invaded his homeland, but even so, the story is tragic, as in the end he becomes yet another victim of the war, shot down by a sniper himself, all the anger gone as only blood in the snow remains. On Alpenpässe you even get a nice juxtaposition of imagery, through the songs Kaiserjagerlied and Tiroler Edelweiss. The first being a pure black metal piece adaptation of an old march song of the Austrian mountain infantry regiments, the lyrics being actually from the war, and not written by the band - and as with any propaganda, war is portrayed as a glorious and just fight against the enemies of the Empire. The second song is a calm neo-folk composition in which we have a narrator portraying a dying Austrian soldier of those said regiments (hence the repeating verse about all his sacrifices for "the flower on my sleeve", the Edelweiss being a symbol of the Imperial Austrian Mountain Corps) looking at his situation as he lies dying in a frozen battlefield. The narrator comes to the realization that war is anything but glorious and heroic, as surrounding him dead bodies litter the mountaintops, he realizes he does not hate his enemy, even telling himself that in death now they are all the same - pawns sacrificed in the name of others - he only fought for those at home, to protect them and keep them safe. As the song comes to a close, and as it instrumentally becomes more and more quiet as even the temp slows down, the narrator's final thoughts are of the many Edelweiss flowers that will grow on the battlefields the following summer, as his and his comrades' bodies will decay. This is most powerful anti-war message in my opinion, while also paying the due respect to all those who died in such horrible conditions on the Isonzo, as the Edelweiss - a martial symbol - turns into a symbol of rebirth, with the message that in death they were all the same, and only fought because they wanted to protect their loved ones, not for glory, for there is barely any glory in war, and not in hatred towards their enemies, as in the end, they had more in common with each other, than they had with the people who commanded them and sent them to their deaths. In the end, WW1 was not a war in which there was an evil side and a good one, both the Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers who died there were unfortunate victims of the troubled times they were born in.

Found it with 46 views, been listening to weekly ever since. A genuine masterpiece from start to beginning. I like how clear the pronunciation is while the vocals still remain dark and cold, and despite German not being my first language it's easy to distinguish the lyrics without ever reading them. The whole instrumental part is phenomenal both as an entity and as individual parts, the music envokes a very "warlike" vibe, like you're there in the trenches with flashbangs and cannonfire blasting, which fits with the overall image of the band. 9.5/10, will replay on repeat

I know, it is not easy! I am German, if you compare our languages, there are certain similarities, we are all related ... It was the Brits, that were jealous of my ancestors wealth, they achieved with hard labour and there great ability, to improve their inventions! Bismarck made the social laws and this fought poority at a high level! First, the Brits just try to mark German exports with "Made in Germany", just to make the customers believe, the products are bad! As this does not work, they switched to provoke the Kaiserreich with building warships ... According to internal Europe defense-contracts, the staged "terrorist attack" on Austria's foolower to the throne at the Balkan started in 1914 and the American-british plan of getting rid of three (!) European Kaiser's (German, Austrian AND Russian) worked out and the splitted populations fought, with massive US an Brit support, untill finally ended in 1945! We, Germany, never stood up again, every city flattened in big parts, nearly 12 Million Germans dead, same number expelled from German territory... Today? Well, take a look at us now... Degeneration, industry dying, 100+ sexes.... Sodom and Gomorrha.....
