Walsh had one of the most beautiful voices! He had range, pitch, soul & timbre. His vocals on Masque & Leftoverture were remarkable.

And how can anyone, reasonably.....ever compare this voice to Brad Delp, Steve Perry, etc......This guy had more soul in his left finger, than anyone.....Fortunately, and what are the odds, the NEXT greatest singer was his Band Mate, Robby..............

I agree with this and Robby, oh my. Being a great Kansas and Kerry fan, I urge you to listen to the other voice. The one that was silent for 30 years. Before this Kansas there was another one. Listen to music by the group Protokaw. Its the first Kansas and has all Kerry Livgren music. Listen to Lynn Meredith. One heck of a voice for sure.

LOU GRAMM--STEVE WALSH-PAUL RODGERS-MARK FARNER-BRAD DELP AND there are others,but in the top 5 in the world,WALSH IS NUMBER 2 FACT,genius vocalist,and he can play the keys to perfection,ask KERRY

I have to disagree on #2- Steve Walsh is the Top #1 rock tenor of the 70's era for a multiple of reasons. Check out the Jimi Hedrix cover demo Steve did posted on YT. Vocally his sheer power, sense of pitch and ability to shift from belt to falsetto along with a piercing operatic fallsetto puts him over the top of the rest. No cover artist can come close to this guy's abilities ( when Steve was in his prime). You have to have alot of guts to attempt Steve's material since its so difficult stylistically to pull off. His best moments were in live performances - think about that- actually sounding better live! ( with No overdubbing). Added to that his songwriting capabilities and Keyboard/Organ skills barr none... were over the top- we're talking prodigy here.

I agree totally with your top 5. Of course no one will agree on one order or another! But that’s ok! I too think Lou Gramm is the best ever but only by hundredths of a percentage point!! It’s that close for me. I also love that you mentioned Mark Farner. He rarely gets the props he deserves. I think his voice in the song “The Railroad” sounds remarkably similar to Steve Walsh. And that is a HUGE compliment!! 😎

how did you ISOLATE the vocals? did you use PRO TOOLS?
@cdlaino762 жыл бұрын
Actually I did not do them myself. I found a guy on KZbin who had isolated a bunch of Beatle tracks. I asked him if he could do some Kansas for me and of course he said yes for a certain fee so I felt it was worth it to pay a little bit of money to have it done even though they did not come out perfect still really cool for the serious listener. I did however turn them into video format so I can put them on KZbin

This is NOT a vocal stem from the multi-track recording. My guess is that an app has been used to isolate the vocal from the stereo source. Yes, it's a bit wonky but who cares. Until a stem emerges then this is all we have.

Tons of over touring as well...improper signing too. He had a way of using his vibrato and hitting a note which is so strong
