Glad you mentioned the holding. I know both teams do it, but there were some obvious holds by KU that were instrumental in big plays that weren’t called

My friend and I had both been talking about that all night. But then we got away with a PI on that pick.

As a "trivia head", here's the wacky, the weird and the useless info about this game's impact on the overall rivalry: - K-State's current 16 game winning streak is the longest by either team in series history. KU did have a 16-game unbeaten streak from 1907-1922, but that included 3 ties, including the last 2 games of the streak. - K-State now has a winning record against KU since 1918, and the series is tied since 1916, at a record of 52-52-5. - The 2-point margin was the closest in the series since a 10-9 K-State win in 1993, the first game of K-State's 11-game winning streak in the rivalry from 1993-2003. - Despite the closeness in this year's victory, the Wildcats inched closer to taking the all-time lead in points scored in the series. State has scored an all-time total of 2144 points to the Jayhawks' 2208; a gap of just 64 points in a 122 games. This is equal to the greatest single-game margin of victory in series history: a 64-0 Wildcat victory in Lawrence in 2002. - KU's 27 points scored was a significant number for multiple reasons. First, it was the third year in a row that they scored exactly 27 points against K-State. Second, it gave them exactly 1919 points scored in the rivalry since the 1919 season. - The last time K-State scored exactly 29 points against KU was in a 29-12 Wildcat victory in Manhattan. The time before that was in a 38-29 home loss to the 1968 Jayhawks, who were ranked in the Top 10, won the Big 8 (KU's most recent conference title in football to date) and lost by 1 point to an undefeated Penn State team in the Orange Bowl.

Thank you for the 1907 - 1922 stat. I remembered it waay back in the first 11 game streak that ended in '04, but I was not seeing it anywhere else.

One of the things I’ve noticed in the games this season is open field tackles have been really off. In KU’s first possession, it was third down with a decent distance to go, and whoever had the ball running toward first down was faced by a KState defensive player, and there wasn’t any juke, but the KState player barely got hands on the opposing player resulting in a first down. Then it happened again in the next three down. It happened many more times during the game and other games, and I’m unsure why this seems to be a thing under Coach, when it wasn’t with Snyder.

On a play at the goal line, #10 tried to tackle with his back. He had no desire to make the play....like " don't hurt me "

It was at times under Snyder too, espically toward the end of his career. Its a game played by 18-24 year old young men and sometimes they don't get it right.

K State alum here and I hate to say it but your exactly right Fitz, KU's offense, we could not stop at all, till we started blitzing at the end, but the game usually comes down to plays and we made the most plays or better yet made the least amount of mistakes. The clutch FG will be talked about and remembered for a long long time. Way to go cats !

The holding in this game was crazy and thank you for bringing it up.
@bryanjones87783 ай бұрын
Agreed. However, until late in the game, I thought our tackling left a lot to be desired. I saw another commenter say our tackling reminded them of ISU last season, except that was in the middle of a snowstorm. We need to stay focused for Houston. Go 'Cats!

Anyone else been missing Colin Klein? A win’s a win, but I think our coordinators (offense and defense) might want to keep innovating their gameplay. I’m seeing some good things, but I don’t know if the consistency is quite there yet. Go Cats!

Scratching my head on the last offensive series for KSTATE. You want to run the clock down to make the Jayhawks use their timeouts. Wildcats get 7 yards on the first down play and then attempt to pass the next 2 plays, which stopped the clock???? Not on board with that all. However, a UGLY win is better than a PRETTY loss.
@mtb70183 ай бұрын
Agreed. Also Dylan was shredding KU, didn’t touch the ball the last two drives. 🤷

I obviously don't want him fired (he's helped win a lot of games) , but I do just feel that he needs ?'ed about his schemes that could potentially cost K-State games in the future that can be prevented earlier on in the game rather than waiting until the last minute to be GOAT. It really could have gone bad last night.

I've watched a bunch of these confrontations since 1969 and this one harkened back to those 70's style "Toilet Bowl" games for the supposed cellar of the Big Eight. Games were usually ugly, and the win barely respectable. Likening the game to biological sex is spot on. Woof.

Reminds me of 2018 and the first win of the streak in 2009. Both felt like they were playing who wouldn't lose rather than who wanted to win. This one at least felt like both teams wanted to win, they just both didn't look good at doing it.
