You’re wrong. It’s not a sequel, but a prequel actually. It’s about Lord Guliga the demigod who is a ferocious avatar of Lord Shiva. The story is set around 300-500 CE during Kadamba dynasty’s rule.

There are many layers. As I am from the place of Kantara let me try to explain few points to unknown people about the hidden meanings. 1. The loud scream you hear as signature Kantara voice: That is the sacred voice of god for us soothing, assuring with a combination of thunder, merged with roar of lion which it does to protect its kingdom at the same time assure its cubs and kingdom about it is there for them, its authority. There are subtle variations of it and every variation will be a message from god. 2. Concept of Violence: Concept is to resort to last resort of “Danda” (Punishment) when Sama (Calm), Dana (Giving), Bheda (Dividing) doesn’t work to bring peace. It is extremely important to shift back to Sama again and do penance for executing “Danda”, as written in scriptures. May peace prevail in this world.❤

It's story start from kadamba dinesty... According to one legend, Mayurasharma's father was Trilochana Kadamba. Trilochana was a three-eyed, four-armed warrior who emerged from the sweat of Lord Shiva under a Kadamba tree. Another legend says that Mayurasharma was born to Shiva and Bhudevi(goddess of earth)

Kantara is based on Tulunadu and here in our community we have a lore which talks about Lord Parashurama and how Tulunadu came into existence because of Parashurama. The axe and the entire look of Rishab in the teaser is hinting that this story must be somehow related to Parashurama. its a very interesting story and one we have been hearing about since childhood.

TEASER DECODE At the beginning of the teaser we can see Rishab Shetty AKA Shiva hears the voice and see a light from god, This scene is from the first movie (Recommended to rewatch the scene it's feel like incomplete) where Shiva might See some kind of visions about the origin of kantara. And visions expanded as Kantara 2 where we know more about KANTARA as Jaby said. As it's a prequel it might not have more screen time for Shiva or no screen time just describes just at beginning of KANTARA 2 about the timeline. it is a prequel about the god which was described in Kantara . the Best explanation I've seen for the "wuooooah" calling is that its 'a response to someone calling you' as in responding with "what?!" or 'agreeing to someone's request or suggestion' as in "okay! I got it" but in local colloquy. You'll hear grandmothers in villages responding with "wuaoh" but with gentler tone. In the movie it maybe used as a communication with the Daiva without use of words.

But here in india , especially the south , the indigenous practise (more of workshipping mother nature) is on practise since centuries, so our faith and beliefs to daiva kola has been on practice from many many years back...we are mentally and physically connected to this rituals. The Kadambas era-kadamba dynasty (345-540 CE) were an ancient royal family of karnataka india,that ruled northern Karnataka and the konkan belt from banavasi in present-day uttara kannada district. This story will be arround 1600-1800 years old, so its a prequel. And the charecter showed holding trishul in one hand ,axe in another hand ,we can see a fangs of wild boar in his ear. With blood stains all over his body.. it might be a scene during or after the war. Trishula is lord shivas weapon, same way guliga daiva uses trishul as weapon because it is shiva gana( soldier) In one hand axe is there- axe is the weapon used by Lord parashuram, the place of mangalore or dakshina kannada is called as parasurama sristi,( creation), after killing kshatriyas lord parashuram threw his axe to sea,where ever the axe fell, sea gone back and a land formed there ,this land was full of nagas, but they submerged in sea and stayed in patala lokha. Allowing human to migrate to stay in that land. That is reason in tulunadu culture we worship serpents( adhi shesha, vasuki) associated with lord Shiva, Devi, Vishnu and Subramanya. Wild boar fangs in his ear shows it is connected to daiva panjurli. One legend with all three charecteristics of daiva guliga, Lord parashrama and daiva panjurli. Story must be connected to these charecters.😊
