Doesn’t matter if it was one of his many features, his mixtapes, or one of his studio albums, every time he got in the booth he killed the competition. Kanye knew it and that’s why he brought him up with him. Side note: the fact that Young Jeezy and T.I. weren’t nominated is freaking puzzling to me. Jeezy, T.I., Kanye, and Lil Wayne all had huge albums drop that year. Even the Game’s LAX was massively overlooked. Just my opinion though

People don’t know this, but the BET awards goes off who was the best the previous year. In 2007 Kanye West drop Graduation, Lil Wayne drop the Drought 3. 2007 is really when lil Wayne only emerged into it or started approaching “SUPER STAR” status. Now that I look at it, yes Kanye deserve the award and it was the right pick. Lil Wayne won the fan favorite award this year at the BET awards too. I think if they let the fans choose who were the best everyone would have voted Wayne and he would have won the award. That’s why Kanye West literally pushed Wayne on the stage and let him walk first!! Bro he’s not STUPID! They all knew LIL WAYNE WAS COMING and it was for sure possible he was going to TAKE OVER EVERYTHING! And he did, the dude drop the Carter 3 and sold over 1.5 million in the first week. That’s shit NEVER happened before with no rapper! Kanye said “Wayne you scare me” bro Wayne was extremely dangerous back then he fucked clean over ANY and EVERY ARTIST for 3 years straight! That will NEVER happen again. Birthed a new generation of rappers, everyone literally dress like him talk like him and always admit that Wayne is one of their biggest influences. But best believe who won the best hip hop artists the very next year. Lil Wayne. 🙏🏽

This is the moment I realised Kanye was a true fucking great. I was disappointed when Wayne didn't win but when Kanye brought him along and admitted he was scared of him I realised he was deserving of it too. To this day I always give Kanye the benefit of doubt even when there's a shitstorm around him.

2008 was a special year for hip hop. I think the best music for hip hop came out from 2007-2015

Damn, 2008 had so many great hits. Music from that 2000s period sound so nostalgic nowadays

As a white guy, Its always appeared to me that Kanye stands up for his people. Even today. Its unfortunate that alot of his people cant see that anymore.

The crazy part is people during this time period, people thought hip hop was dead. The subject matter and lyrics were really dumbed down at this point. A lot of one hit wonders came out during this 05-08 period with something like a song and dance. Kanye and Wayne were on fire during this era and put out some classic material. Both are 🐐
