Hey KAO Beatbox ,I have a question, now that I know how to do the throatbass, It gets a little bit difficult when it comes to switch back to the normal voice and so on ,it doesnt feel natural and the transition between is slow and choppy (I don't know how to explain it ,but I hope you get what i'm saying, thx again for your amazing tutorials, it helped me a lot : )

@@stephaneherrera7203 I understand completely what you're saying! It's not a natural thing which we do with our voice, the transition which you're mentioning. In order for it to be easier, you must practice it. Create a routine which involves this transition to make it more fun!

2 STEPS TO LEARN THROAT BASS: + Tips 1. Do the sound you make when you clear your throat. 2. Extend that sound. When you clear your throat you go ''ah hummm'', hold the ''hummm'' part and practice holding the ''mmmm'' sound for longer and longer until it stops hurting after maybe a week (if it burns you are probably doing it right), try not to tense your neck too hard, just relax and push out with your ''voice'' not your neck muscles. At first you will probably struggle to hold it for more than a second or two because it burns, but you just have to condition your throat, it will get used to it after about a week. At first you may only hold it for 2 seconds, then the next day 5 seconds, 10 the next, 20 the next etc then after a week it shouldn't hurt anymore then you can practice adding vowel sounds and wobbling your voice with those vowel sounds. You should feel the fast vibration of the vocal cords and aim to keep the oscillations/vibration steady and consistent. Make sure you ALWAYS SIP WATER when doing throat bass, you will damage your vocal cords if you don't, drink water especially when you first start practising. It helps to warm up your voice before hand like singers do as throat bass is all vocal cords, it helps you control the sound better and last longer before it hurts. If you start doing it with a cold voice (like if you just wake up and haven't spoken yet) you will hurt your voice and shorten the time you can do it that day drastically, if you haven't spoken for awhile, warm up, if you have been speaking it's still a good idea to do vocal exercises for a few minutes. When I do warm up I use this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3SvqnSjjdmjnLs When it starts to hurt, stop doing it for that day, don't keep pushing through the pain, you will wreck your throat and it will become inflamed for longer than just that day if you don't, whenever it starts to hurt I stop and it will be fine the next day (When I first learned it I used to not drink enough water and I would continue pushing through the pain because it was just so fun and I would pay for it, I would push through pain every day and as a result my throat was always sore and always had a lump in my throat and it took forever to heal when I stopped). If you keep pushing through the pain everyday you will eventually damage your vocal cords permanently, it takes awhile for that to happen but it will happen, you can also get nodes on your vocal cords from excessive friction (that's why you lubricate with water) which will prevent you from hitting certain notes and make your voice raspy or hoarse. Always drink water when throat bassing! You guys are lucky, I wish someone told me this stuff 😅👌

I've found i can naturally go from second tenor down all along to bass with a throat bass so relaxed that a vocal trainer may think i'm a baritone for the smooth tone i can get, and everyone may not believe that my bass voice is instead a really smooth throat bass, so smooth that is mistakeable for a real bass voice, and a pro beatboxer won't even believe mine is a throat bass, from so smooth it is!

How to do lower throat bass? I only can reach high notes
@KAOBeatbox4 жыл бұрын
Work on pitching it lower day by day, it takes time in order to lower your pitch
@darkstays92514 жыл бұрын
Ok. Learning something new is always a matter of time and persistence, but after three weeks practicing about half an hour to 40 minutes (ie: until mild throat soreness) every day, I've hit brick wall. First, what I've got in the first 3 or so days: - The base coughing sound - Elongating that sound (until out of breath, which is rather quickly) I've been trying to get to the 1:07 sound and modulation since, but it always comes out too airy and too wobbly. Most of the sound I've been making seems to be my actual voice and just a little bit is the vibration that is the throat bass. Also, the pitch is always the same, there is *some* vibration when the pitch is high, but none when I try to lower it. So I'd like to kindly ask for some help: - From where, through either my nose or mouth, should most of the air mass be leaving? - On top of that, if either or both are completely closed, would one still be able to do the bass? - How could I start to remove my voice from the sound so I get the pure throat bass vibrations? - In order to pitch down I should just lower the sound in the throat and I gathered that I'm just missing some practice to do it, but is there any other tip on how to ease this process? I think I'm using too much air and force to maintain the sound, and that's the cause to the airiness and short breath. My main concern then is firstly the airiness and second my actual voice layering in too much, not so it being wobbly, since even though I'm 21 my voice still sounds like I'm 15 and cracks a lot but I hope it'll fix itself in the next few years. Thank you KAO for being such a nice person and awesome teacher. Lots of love from Brazil!
@KAOBeatbox4 жыл бұрын
Q1: "From where, through either my nose or mouth, should most of the air mass be leaving?" A: It depends on if you're doing it nasally. You can choose to resonate this sound into a higher head space which results in air exhalation exclusively from your nose. However if you're utilizing the shaping of sounds through then it'll come through your mouth. You can also rotate between the two in order to achieve a different effect. Q2: "On top of that, if either or both are completely closed, would one still be able to do the bass?" A2: If both are closed you won't be able to produce any sound. With practice you should be able to feel where the resonance takes place, either higher in the front of your face (nasal) or near the entrance to your vocal cords (air leaves through mouth). Q3: " How could I start to remove my voice from the sound so I get the pure throat bass vibrations?" A3: In my experience the voice/vowels/enunciation are what create the sound. Without that there would be no vibration, and thus, no sound. Q4: "In order to pitch down I should just lower the sound in the throat and I gathered that I'm just missing some practice to do it, but is there any other tip on how to ease this process?" A4: I'd highly recommend using a piano in order to notice the subtleties in pitching downwards. Again, based on my experience, certain vowels allow for attaining a lower pitch easier. Such as transitioning from Ahhhhh to Owwwwwww like AAhhhhhhhhhhhhOOwwwwww. You'll notice the vibration moving in your vocal cords. Use this basic method just described alongside the piano to see where the pockets of resonance are for the variety of pitches. Best of luck! You may have to exert a little more effort in the beginning, but as the weeks/months/years go by it'll be as though you've learned English but instead you've "learned throat bass". You become more fluent in it. It's absolutely fascinating, there's always something new to learn which is why I absolutely love this technique over any other. Thanks for asking such detailed questions, I think these answers should help in your practice! I hope you're safe and healthy during this time in Brazil!

I believe you can practice until it physically hurts. My personal philosophy based on 7 years of practicing this technique almost DAILY is that you can push it UNTIL it hurts. It's similar to working out. You don't workout until you're injured, you workout with PROPER TECHNIQUE until you achieve a healthy level of soreness (NOT PAIN). From then it's rinse and repeat. Otherwise you'll remain stagnant and wonder why your technique of choice is not improving.

Yeaaaaah you should probably not listen to this guy's advice... If it hurts/irritates STOP IMMEDIATELY, lubricate your throat and pick it back up later. I looked into the anatomy of the throat/voice box to see what's going on in there and that biceps analogy makes absolutely no sense, you don't want to train the strength of the muscles in your throat. What you want is a better mind-muscle connection, if you're hurting yourself you are doing it wrong. There is potential to do serious permanent harm to your vocal folds by straining them in the wrong way for an extended period of time. He might be able to do it well himself but teaching it to somebody else is an entirely different thing. It may work for some people but if you keep doing it wrong you can tear the vocal folds because of the vibrations.
@KAOBeatbox5 жыл бұрын
Not only do you tell people not to listen to my tutorial, you straight up discredit my teachings as though I have never taught someone. I've had students and I've successfully taught them throat bass as well as other complex techniques. That's incredibly rude. Before you completely neglect everything I say, read some of the comments. I tell people very clearly to "lubricate" e.g. drink water. and I give them tips and tricks to lay a foundation for the technique as well as grow it. The biceps analogy makes perfect sense. If you want to get better at something, you need to train. Not be in pain, but you need to work it so that you overcome your previous plateau. I say that if it hurts, stop and pick it up later. According to your logic, then I've been doing it wrong for 7 years... and guess what, not only has my throat bass gotten much clearer and more concise, but my vocals for singing have improved as well. What I'm teaching has worked for me, and that's what I will relay unto others. If someone has a question I will relay my experience, as any teacher would. if you don't like how I teach, watch other videos, leave your toxicity and know it all out of my comments. If you do your own research into the anatomy of the throat, GREAT, in fact I ENCOURAGE that. However for you to straight up discredit my entire tutorial and teaching experience due to your own research is rather rude. Especially because you credit yourself to one simple "i googled this".

@@KAOBeatbox wow your reply is just one big clusterfuck of misinterpretations. I never said you havent taught before, i just said people probably shouldnt listen to you because the advice you give about going on is just plain wrong and potentially very dangerous. What works for you will not work for anyone, given the potential of doing permanent damage it's irresponsible state that thats the way to go. The biceps anology does NOT make sense, goes to show how little you know about human anatomy. You train the biceps muscles by straining them to the extend where the muscle fibers tear. This increases muscle strength, strength is not what you want for the vocal muscles. You want a better mind-muscle connection so you have more control over the sound. Once again i never said doing it your way its impossible to learn throat bass, you just choose to neglect the potential dangers that come with using your training method. You're trying to make it seem like im the uneducated one here, buy for quite a while i've been interested in the human voice and the biomechanics behind it. I didnt "just google it", i've probably done more research than you. And i haven't been toxic even though you try to make it look that way. seems like youre offended because you choose to neglect the potential dangers and i tried to warn people of these dangers unlike you...
