This technique is so beautiful Holly! I love watching Terri's channel too, she does a great job as well. It's so cool the soap looks just like a clam shell, I love watching you guys make beautiful soap! Was this a 2 lb mold? Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful videos as they are so relaxing to watch and listen to. This covid 19 virus is crazy, it's like the whole world stopped! My family and I are doing well and hope your family is too. Stay well my soapmaking friend and God speed to you and everyone on here reading these comments. 💞

Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear you and your family are doing well. ❤️ I completely forgot to mention the mold size in the video or description. Thank you for mentioning it! Yes, this was a little 2 lb mold. I can usually get 5 regular size bars out of it.

I’m not sure I understand what you said , did you put the soap in while the oven was on or did you let the oven get to 170, turn it off, then put the soap in? Also how long did you leave the soap in the oven uncovered before you covered it? Thank you for your time and your art is gorgeous!!

Hi Holly, how are you my lady? Like all your videos, I enjoyed watching this video of yours. Your soap is very nice, well done. There are 4 questions I want to ask. 1-)) What are the inner dimensions of this mold in centimeters, in terms of height, width and length? 2-) How many grams of oil did you use to fill this mold? 3-) Which oils did you use for this total amount of oil? Can you write your recipe? 4-) How many grams of NaOH and how many grams of water did you use in the lye formula you prepared for saponification? Thank you in advance for your answers. I send my respect, love and greetings from Turkey.

Do you always soap at the lower temps in the 80s? I’m still new and learning. I’ve tried this once and ended up with a lot of deep ash. Any suggestions? Thank you 😊 I love your tutorials!
@hollysoapmaking
@hollysoapmaking 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you and thanks for watching! 💕 Yes, I mostly soap between 80-90º F. One thing I do to help prevent ash on top is to leave the soap completely covered for at least 48 hours. If you can put a layer of plastic wrap over the mold (under or over the mold lid) to prevent any air from getting in during those 48 hours, that's even better. I also find that water discounts help (if you're comfortable doing that). I usually use a 33% lye concentration and make sure the soap goes through gel phase. When it gels, saponification happens quicker and I find there's less chance of ash forming when I unmold the soap. Hope this helps!

Hi Holly, I stumbled on your videos in my feed and have been glued to your tutorials ever since. I love how your soaps come out, how you shoot and narrate the videos and I just can't stop watching your videos. Can I also say that I just love your style of soaping. You, along with the other handful of soapers I watch are just so inspiring. Note: I pick up habits from the other soapers. My habit from you is when I start to make my soaps I will definitely stick blend and mix the batter with the spatula AND place the spatula in the soap mould before pouring the soap batter in. I'm in my second year of learning and just love to see the wonderful veteran's show their knowledge. Thank you for being here for early soapers like me! 😊
