Microglia do not come from the bone marrow. They come from the fetal yolk sac during early embryonic development.

How, by what process, and when do they end up in the embryo's bone marrow... and after that, how and when - during fetal development - do they enter the brain? Via the bloodstream of course, but can you supply more detail?
