I bought a 79 Sporster ( hugger ) new in April 1979. The factory exhaust that year was tuned wrap around similar to a FLH. Yes the bike did have twin discs on the front. I still have the original factory exhaust as I had drag pipes on it when I sold the bike. If anyone is looking to restore this model year to original exhaust give me a shout.

Just bought a 79 with 5200 miles. All stock except pipes. Still have yours?

@@SuperOperator4 Yes I do Paul. I'll go out back in the shed tomorrow 10/14/21 and dig them out to see the condition there in. I can take some photos if you would like. Beautiful to see another 79. Nothing but good memories riding the XLH. Mine was black and called the Hugger. I have a 77 Shovel and a 2011 Ultra. Still regret selling the Sportster. I have the original clutch basket for it yet. I put a kicker on mine to compliment the electric start.

@@SuperOperator4 Hi Paul, I looked in the shed. It's a gigantic mess. The pipes I could see in the corner were two into ones. So I'll keep looking. My wife say's she saw them in there years ago. I'll have her point the area out where they were last seen. Never viewed myself as such a pack rat. I've since changed my view. I don't believe I sold them with the bike. I'll sent a text to my X brother in law to see if he remembers. That is where I had it in storage when I sold it back in the mid to late 80's. I do still have the Harley Davidson Factory service Manual in my collection of books.

I had a chestnut brown '79 XLCH. Nothing really wrong with those bikes. Ran it hard all the time, full throttle all the time. It did scoot out OK.

I got the same exact bike, I can't tell you what I paid , but I think the guy I got it from didn't know or care vhat he had, good for me 😁!
